Main Role & Responsibilities:

• Plans, and manages yard activities in maximizing the efficiency and effectiveness of the terminal yard, considering commercial and operational factors in ensuring compliance with safety standards and company procedures.

• Organise and control adherence on organization\xe2\x80\x99s safety standards and administered to all staff members.

• Oversee the overall planning and control on all aspects of the operations in close coordination with the Operations Director.

• Assisting HRA Dept. in Human Resource Management.

• Oversee overall trainings of all employees of project site.

• Yearly evaluation of all employees within project site.

Additional responsibilities:

• Ensuring yard planning staff follows and complies with the yard planning matrix.

• Ensuring yard strategies are followed always (e.g. up to the yard call level and truck visit level).

• Provide suggestions to yard planning manager in improving yard utilization.

• In case any action contrary to the pre-decided strategy is taken in the absence of the Yard planner, communicate it to the senior staff.

• Ensure contact is maintained at all times with the Yard Planning Supervisor, Yard Strategist and Real Time Control Supervisor.

• Ensure that the yard inventories are updated real time within the existing ERP system.

• Ensure accurate and timely provision of the following data to the Planning Superintendent for preparing the Planning Game Plan (PGP) - Housekeeping figures & priorities, Ground locations \xe2\x80\x93 classified as per Yards/exports/imports/Full/empty.

• Make sure that advanced SPARCS modules are used to maximum extent e.g. Expert decking, Prime route, Yard move filters, Yard impact view / recap list Ensure that the yard planning staff maximizes optimization opportunities in the yard operations for Cycling in the yard.

• Ensure that the Planning Action Guideline is strictly followed.

• Identify planners with training needs and arrange for the same (Follow up with the Team leader to ensure that these planners receive continuous refresh training).

• Ensure that the Yard departure data is accurate, and the Yard planner & the dispatcher have carried out their assigned checks

• Assist in defining and planning yard activities/ procedures on the lines of terminal structure, yard configuration, and nature of operations, container types, and type of equipment.

• Assist Planning Manager in defining strategies for yard traffic, stacking strategies, defining parameters for assigning locations, including use of appropriate filters in the system. e.g. \xe2\x80\x99expert decking\xe2\x80\x99.

• Ensure yard operations are managed in accordance with terminal policies and procedures, legislative policy, and customer requirements.

• Ensure yard planning is effectively managed for: discharge and loading of empty and full containers; movement of containers within the terminal.

• Ensure stacking principles are followed in assigning locations to containers.

• Explain implications of container movement in the yard \xe2\x80\x93 cost, time and convenience.

• Ensure operations are monitored to identify potential clashes as a result of high traffic load. Ensure corrective measures by; assigning new locations for avoiding potential clashes in the yard, Modification in discharge and loading sequence.

• Coordinate with dispatchers to ensure optimal allocation of switchers & equipment \xe2\x80\x93 e.g. RMGs, reach stackers, forklifts, Empty Container Handlers (ECHs.)

• Ensure housekeeping of containers to minimize the loading time.

• Ensure effective communication is followed with agents/consignee\xe2\x80\x99s and act on the requests for miscellaneous activities (weighing containers etc.).

• Ensure yard inventory is verified to ensure accuracy of information. Ensure missing containers are identified on time.

• Analyse impact of dwell time provide inputs on improving utilization.

• Monitor and analyse the following factors on a regular basis. Yard and gate utilization, Yard inventory and dwell time, stacking strategies, Switcher turnaround time, yard equipment utilization, Average yard equipment Moves to TEU ratio.

• Provide coaching and training to relatively less experienced yard planners.

• Ensure the yard plan is scheduled well in advance, generally 24 hours before the Yard is berthed.

• Co-ordinate with IT to ensure system requirements are met for effective yard planning.

• Liaise with line agents for relevant information.

• Ensure effective inter and intra departmental communication for yard operations.

• Plan, monitor and analyse reports to indicate yard utilization, yard status, container positions and their schedule.

• Propose areas for operational improvement, system automation and up grading.

• Assist in performing periodical scheduled performance review with reporting personnel.

Qualification and education Requirement:

• Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in any discipline. Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Logistics Management is an advantage.

• Minimum of 8 years working experiences in Logistics or Warehousing Operations.

• Advance safety training.

• Ability to comply with HSSEQ regulations.

• Advance knowledges in most M.S. Office applications.

• Full knowledge in an organizational logistics or warehousing ERP system (e.g. SAP, Focus, etc.)

• People manager.

Inter-personal skills:

• Ability to cope with pressure.

• Self-assertive.

• Organizational skills.

• Ability to work alone or as part of a team.

• Sensitive to local issues.

• Fluency both oral and written in English language is a must.

• Knowledgeable in Arabic and German language is an advantage.

• Excellent skills in container planning.

• Ability to handle with pressure.
