About the role


We are expanding the way we support our customers seeking to grow both our onboard engineering and architecture capabilities. This role will be critical to effectively helping our customers deploy Starburst in their production environment and realize the value of the Starburst platform.


In this role, you\xe2\x80\x99ll be expected to understand customers\xe2\x80\x99 current state and help get them to their future state architecture. You will be expected to execute against a scope of work that a customer has contracted against, from tuning JVMs for high performance to customizations to architectural planning. You\xe2\x80\x99ll also collaborate with a Technical Account Manager and Account Executive to elevate key findings and skillfully advise customers on projects that will help them achieve their business goals.


We\xe2\x80\x99re looking for highly motivated individuals with backgrounds in deploying and debugging complex systems. Background in distributed systems, Hadoop, cloud technologies, security, DBMSs, and navigating a complex Java codebase are all useful technical skills. Equally important are strong communication skills and the ability to function in a fast-paced dynamic environment when needed. Starburst leverages Trino which encompasses a wide range of technologies, and most important is the desire and ability to learn.

Responsibilities:

• • Assist and guide customers in the implementation of Starburst from initial infrastructure and security setup to validation.
  • Actively juggle multiple customer onboardings and carefully track time and effort commensurate with budget and margin goals
  • Project manage the installation of Starburst, managing timelines, and proactively diagnosing and resolving unforeseen technical obstacles
  • Be the expert in Starburst Enterprise and guide and direct our customers to ensure they make the best technical decisions to achieve scale and performance goals
  • Architect technical solutions to meet customer\'s business objectives
  • Burn down technical backlog is prioritized by customers
  • Meet with customers on a regular cadence to review, plan and prioritize workload
  • Explore integrations and extensions of Trino with customers
  • Diagnose and resolve unforeseen technical obstacles
  • Act as a liaison between customers and other teams to assist in the resolution of key issues, bugs, and requirements for customers

Valuable Expertise:

• • Proven track record of implementing customers and adhering to time-to-value metrics
  • Project and time management
  • Setting up and tuning distributed processing engines
  • Analyzing code and using ad-hoc tests to troubleshoot complex issues
  • Hadoop (specifically HDFS and Hive)
  • Docker and Kubernetes
  • Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP, OpenShift)
  • Security: Authentication (LDAP, Kerberos); Authorization technologies (SSL/TLS)
