Job Description
nuclear medicine technologist uses a scanner to create images of various areas of a patient\'s body. They prepare radioactive drugs and administer them to patients undergoing scans which cause abnormal areas of the body to appear different from normal areas in the images. understand anatomy, physiology, and other sciences and be able to calculate accurate dosages. Compassion. Nuclear medicine technologists must be able to reassure and calm patients who are under physical and emotional stress. Detail oriented. Explain medical procedures to patients and answer any questions they may have. Follow safety procedures to protect the patients and themselves from unnecessary radiation exposure. Prepare and administer radioactive drugs to patients. Monitor and watch for any unusual reactions patients may have to drugs. Operate imaging equipment. Maintain detailed procedure records. Follow safety and disposal radiation procedures.
