Job Description

The Naturalist / Activity Assistant supports the resort's guest experience team by conducting nature-based activities, assisting in recreation programs, guiding guests on walks and trails, and ensuring smooth delivery of all guest activities. The role is ideal for someone passionate about nature, hospitality, and guest interaction.

Minimum Experience Requirement

1 year of experience

in nature guiding, hospitality activities, adventure tourism, or environmental education. Prior experience in resorts, homestays, trekking groups, or wildlife clubs is an added advantage.

Key ResponsibilitiesNature & Outdoor Activities

Assist in conducting nature walks, plantation trails, birdwatching sessions, and soft treks. Share basic information about local trees, plants, birds, and general biodiversity of Wayanad. Support guests during cycling, boating, fishing, and other resort activities (if available). Maintain basic knowledge of the resort layout, viewpoints, and safe routes.

Guest Experience & Interaction

Welcome guests and explain the daily activity schedule. Assist families, children, and groups with recreation programs. Ensure guests have a safe, enjoyable, and well-guided activity experience. Collect feedback and share with the Activities Manager.

Activity Operations

Set up and manage activity zones (cycling, indoor games, campfire area, etc.). Ensure activity equipment is clean, safe, and well-maintained. Help organize special events such as campfires, cultural programs, and themed evenings.

Safety & Compliance

Ensure guest safety during all outdoor activities. Inspect trails and activity areas regularly for hazards. Maintain basic first-aid awareness and follow resort SOPs.

Documentation & Coordination

Maintain basic logs for guest participation and activities conducted. Report issues or new ideas to the Activity Manager. Assist with photos, videos, and documentation of activities when required.

Qualifications & SkillsEssential

Plus Two or Bachelor's degree in any subject. Good communication skills in English, Hindi and regional languages. Interest in nature, wildlife, outdoor activities, or hospitality. Physically fit and comfortable with walking and outdoor work.

Preferred

Basic knowledge of birds, plants, or wildlife is beneficial. Ability to ride a cycle, row a boat, or guide simple treks. Experience with children's activities or guest recreation.

Friendly, positive, and guest-oriented. Enthusiastic about nature and outdoor activities. Good teamwork, punctuality, and responsibility. Calm, patient, and able to handle guest queries confidently.
