Summary: The BigData Platform Engineering Team is looking for a highly talented, self-driven, proven engineer/lead to help design and build BigData platforms that deal with data at hundreds of petabyte scale in on-premise and public cloud. The BigData Platform Engineering Team is looking for a highly talented, self-driven, proven engineer/lead to help design and build BigData platforms that deal with data at hundreds of petabyte scale in on-premise and public cloud. As lead engineer in this group, you would get to work on BigData & cloud technologies and solve the problems around building, managing, governing, automating and monitoring elastically scalable compute infrastructure for data scientists. What you will work on:

  • As a Lead engineer you will be building BigData platforms that can help operate and scale the infrastructure
  • Build and Administer Hadoop clusters using Ambari or Cloudera Manager.
  • Build services to support Multi-tenant environment with 100+ PBs in Datasets.
  • Work directly with Lead engineer, Architecture, Product Managers, Program Managers and stakeholders
  • Work closely with Product Managers, Program Managers, Data Scientists/Customers
  • Work with cross functional teams to set up production environment and enable solutions for business.
  • Monitor the systems, Generate Performance Reports and provide continuous improvements.
  • Capacity planning and management, Platform governance and optimization.
  • Develop Ansible playbooks to automate Platform administration and monitoring tasks.
  • Debug day to day issues in BigData/Cloud platforms and provide solutions.
  • Perform Tuning and increase Operational efficiency on a continuous basis.
  • Interact with business users to answer their queries and solve their problems.
  • Perform data migration, upgrades and database/tool maintenance etc.
  • Mentor engineers locally and globally.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer sciences/mathematics or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10 years of work experience and 5-6 years of experience working in BigData platforms.
  • Experience with design and development of scalable BigData platforms and services
  • Experience with Hadoop ecosystem and technologies like Spark, Kafka, HBase/Pig or MapReduce /Spark
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across the full tech stack - language, databases, web servers and system environment
  • Experience enabling security features like LDAP and Kerberos on Hadoop, Data encryption and Key management system etc.
  • Knowledge and experience working with cloud technologies is plus
  • Experience in Level 2, 3 support for performing hot fixes and dealing with platform issues in production environment.
  • Good knowledge about Hadoop platform architecture, Hardware specs, Performance Benchmarking.
  • Require good Unix skills and knowledge about Networking architecture, Datacenter issues etc.
  • Excellent team player and great attitude. Willingness to understand and work through global software development approaches
  • Excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills, analytical and problem-solving skills.
