Patient Care:Screen patients for safety (e.g., pacemakers, metal implants), explain the MRI process, ensure patient comfort and safety during scans, and address concerns.
Equipment Operation:Operate MRI equipment, select appropriate imaging software options and parameters, and position the equipment to capture specific body areas.
Image Quality:Produce high-quality diagnostic images for accurate diagnoses, monitor image quality during scans, and recognize any abnormalities.
Patient Preparation:Prepare patients for scans, including potentially removing and replacing IVs and catheters. Administer contrast dyes and medications as needed.
Maintenance & Record-Keeping:Perform routine inspections of MRI equipment, troubleshoot malfunctions, and schedule maintenance. Maintain accurate patient records and reports.
Collaboration:Work with physicians to determine scanning locations and collaborate with other healthcare professionals.
Essential Skills
Technical Skills:Proficient in operating complex MRI equipment and understanding imaging principles.
Anatomical Knowledge:Sound knowledge of human anatomy for proper patient positioning and accurate image interpretation.
Safety Protocols:Strong understanding of MRI safety procedures, particularly concerning metal objects and patients with implants.
Communication:Excellent communication skills to explain procedures clearly and build rapport with patients and colleagues.
