Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership:
Manage and mentor mechanical engineers and maintenance staff, providing technical guidance and ensuring staff development.
Project Oversight:
Plan, coordinate, and execute mechanical engineering projects or maintenance activities, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to specifications.
Technical Management:
Oversee the design and development of mechanical systems, review engineering drawings, and ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
Operations & Maintenance:
Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules, troubleshoot mechanical issues, and monitor equipment performance to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
Resource & Budget Management:
Manage engineering resources, approve timesheets, oversee procurement of supplies and equipment, and prepare budgets.
Compliance & Safety:
Ensure adherence to safety regulations, develop safety procedures, and strive for a zero-accident work environment.
Strategic Planning:
Contribute to strategic planning and innovation, incorporating new technologies into designs, and developing internal resources for enhanced knowledge.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Education:
A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering is a common requirement.
Experience:
Several years of experience in mechanical engineering or maintenance is often necessary.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with mechanical design principles, CAD software (like Pro-Engineer, SolidWorks, AutoCAD), and understanding of various systems (HVAC, piping, process systems).
