Role:

In this role you will collaborate with a global cross functional team as a mechanical drives component engineer supporting concept development, detail design, and validation for electric machines and transmissions used in the rail industry. Including such tasks as:

• Mechanical structure (gearcases, axles, castings, bearing housings) design, analysis, and validation
• Developing and preparing instructions for assembly methods and constraints

Monitor and communicate project status, business issues, and significant developments. Support the sourcing function in development and execution of strategic sourcing initiatives. Support factory for equipment build issue resolution & build quality verification. Provide root cause analysis leadership interfacing with leadership and customer. Execute service productivity projects, evaluating performance versus cost trade-offs.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Engineering degree
• At least 5 years experience in mechanical structures engineering

Desired Characteristics:

• Experience with mechanical structures and seals on mobile equipment
• Experience with mechanical structures and seals in rail or mining industries
• Experience in bolted joint analysis
• Experience in finite element analysis
• Experience in mechanical component validation
• Experience in seal application or design
• Experience in writing test plans, executing tests, and interpreting test data
