The Marine Electrician installs and repairs wiring, fixtures, and equipment for all electrical services aboard ship and in shipyard facilities, following blueprints and wiring diagrams.


This position is unaccompanied; and a Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Quarter (BQ) will be provided. Responsibilities:

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

  • Installs wiring, fixtures, and equipment for electrical service such as radar, GPS, antennas, motors, pumps, and switches.
  • Fastens plastic boxes to bulkheads to boat electrical switches or outlets.
  • Inspects electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with code.
  • Troubleshoots electrical equipment and circuits using appropriate test equipment to detect and effect required maintenance, repairs, or replacement requirements.
  • Interprets work orders and plans projects to be completed.
  • Wires and connects electrical, electronic and communication systems, completing circuitry and testing systems using ohmmeters, voltmeters, and other electrical testing equipment.
  • Maintains the vessels, shops, and surrounding areas in a clean and safe condition in compliance appropriate safety policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, to support project and mission execution.
Job Requirements:

Mandatory:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year basic electrical background, plus two (2) years electronics installation and service.
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints, wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • Has the ability to troubleshoot system problems and provide creative solutions for difficult system installations.
  • Knowledge of power and hand tools: drills, saws, drill press, heat gun, soldering iron, multi-meter, wrenches, test equipment for marine electronic equipment.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to successfully pass any background checks, pre-employment physical requirements and drug testing required by the contract.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. passport.
  • Valid U.S. Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License required.
