Purpose of the position

Responsible for the management of legal affairs within the assigned region. Provide professional and client-focused legal advice and guidance consistent with a solicitor-client relationship. Manage the legal team and carry out dedicated corporate assignments as instructed or delegated.

Key Tasks

  • Serve as key contact for any legal matter and act as legal resource for the stakeholders within the assigned region;
  • Manage the legal function in consultation with Head-Legal ISC and supervise the other in-house legal counsel within the assigned region;
  • To provide advice and opinions on legal matters and recommend appropriate legal action or response, which best serves to protect the interest of the company;
  • Support the implementation of and monitor adherence to dedicated corporate initiatives and processes (e.g. contract registration and review process, contractual compliance manual etc.).
  • To handle litigations filed by or against the company; liaise and coordinate in that context with claims handling team; advocates and retainers and other stakeholders;
  • Appointment and hiring of advocates or consultants in consultation with Head-Legal ISC and CFO (APAC & ISC) and to take required steps for controlling of legal costs.
  • To provide periodic legal reporting on present or prospective legal matters and expedite closure of existing cases currently under litigation and to reduce external legal counsel spending.
  • Assess and coordinate any regulatory matters related to legal functions in coordination with regional team and keep abreast of any related developments in the assigned region;
  • Provide legal assistance to the team in handling of any operational claims and assist them in registration of claim (with claims departments), its settlement and closure;
  • Coordinate and supervise external retainers, advocates, consultants and professionals hired to provide support and services in various legal matters of the company;
  • Organize and provide training for dedicated legal topics and processes concerning the areas of company's operations, as required;
  • To advise on legal compliances, records and filings in consultation with Head-Legal ISC, Board/ & CFO;
  • In agreement with Head-Legal ISC coordinate and monitor dedicated corporate law matters, in particular:
  • Company's legal compliances;
  • M&A transactions;
  • Strategic and operational alliances (Cooperation Agreements, Joint Ventures)
  • Establishment or closure of subsidiaries, branch offices, representation offices etc.
  • To assist the auditors of the company in carrying annual audit of secretarial and legal records of the company;
  • Regular training of relevant target group on the DSV Contractual Compliance Manual and Checklist. Presentations especially at Regional/Mgt./Sales Meetings.
  • Prepare, carry review and negotiate all kind of legal documents, commercial documents including customer agreements, vendor's agreements, lease agreements or any amendment or renewal thereof;
  • Prompt review of legal documents and business contracts in line with DSV Contractual Compliance Manual;
  • To reduce TAT on legal matters;
  • Timely uploading and update of contract details into the Solusi tool/system;

  • Relevant working experience in logistics and transportation industry will be an advantage;
  • Understanding of DSV strategy and products will be required;
  • Knowledge about legal trends and challenges for the industry;
  • Understanding of business principles and language, including fundamentals of finance and profitability;
  • Overall understanding of business processes and interdependencies;
  • International laws experience will be an advantage;
  • Willingness to occasionally travel and work extended hours if necessary.

Educational background / Work experience
  • Law Graduate with 8-10 years of post-qualification experience of working in corporate environment.
Language Skills
  • Fluent in English & Hindi (any other languages depending on the location)
Computer Literacy
  • Profound knowledge of MS-Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
