We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Manager - Information Management.

Department Overview:

A mature analytics capability, the Global Analytics Center (GAC), is a hub of advanced analytics competency, providing high-end analytics services across global businesses and global functions. Set-up in India in 2004, GAC has matured into a shared Centre of Excellence comprising 2000+ professionals with offices in Bangalore, Kolkata, Guangzhou and Krakow. The work done in GAC forms a vital input towards strategic planning by the senior management for businesses and enables effective decision making along with addressing unforeseen challenges.

GAC is an innovative community leveraging the best of data and analytics capabilities to enable smarter decisions and drive profitable growth. Rightly positioned in the two major intellectual hubs of India, Poland and China, it attracts a rich mix of resources across business consulting, data analysts, decisions scientists and advance analytics professionals. Being in these locations also enables HSBC to leverage talent from the rich academic and start-up ecosystem to keep up to date with the latest in the industry.

Today, the GAC team generates value across the group through a wide variety of data and analytic solutions and related business consulting. GAC has become a one-stop shop for the group\xe2\x80\x99s analytic needs leading the integration of analytics and data-driven decisions not only in traditional areas such as Risk, Retail, Wholesale, Private & Commercial Banking but also in new domains such as Regulatory, Operations, Procurement, Human Resources, and Financial Crime Risk. It provides support to various business groups and the job involves data analysis, model and strategy development & implementation, Business Intelligence, reporting and data management.

There are primarily four job families in GAC: Decision Sciences, Information Management, Business Consulting and MI Reporting. This role applies to the Information Management job family within the Analytics function supporting various businesses and functions.

Global Business/Global Function (Ex: WPB, CMB, GRA etc.):

Global Business/Global Function - Sub-Function (Fraud & Credit Services)
  • Fraud & Credit Services (FCS) is a first line of defence control function in WPB, with the core purpose of supporting the entire customer credit journey and creating sustainable outcomes for the Customer and the Bank.
  • GAC Fraud & Credit Decision Systems under WPB Fraud & Credit Services is mainly responsible for the delivery and support of the Credit & Fraud risk management tools, systems and data across HSBC. The team also serves as a Decision Engine Centre of Excellence for multiple Account Originations/Management and Fraud Risk systems and supporting the Credit Bureau Management. We facilitate the deployment of account originations and management strategies through the FIM approved decision engine. The team would need to interface heavily between the Information Technology team and the end users.
  • The core functions include strategy deployment, data validations, process improvement, system documentation, providing consulting, guidance and delivering comprehensive risk management platforms to support risk management intelligence, analytics, MI generation, and ETL along with data management.
Responsibilities

Data and Decision Systems under Fraud & Credit Services is an integrated team which is mainly responsible for the delivery and support of the risk management tools, systems and data across HSBC. The team also serves as a Decisioning center of expertise for multiple Fraud Management/ Risk systems along with the custodians of Global Fraud Data.

Working across multiple fraud risk types our work helps to keep our customers and the communities we operate in safe from financial crime.

With a passion for all things data our innovative multi-disciplinary team works with cutting technology to deliver products that solve real business problems. Our team consists of agile, create and solution driven individuals that want to use big data, analytics and machine learning to detect and prevent financial crime.

You will work closely with stakeholders and other functions within WPB and WSB and Fraud to develop innovative and actionable models which help to manage fraud risk. The solutions we deliver need to manage risk effectively, be commercially focused, scalable across our many markets and lines of business and stand up to the rigors of internal and external scrutiny and review.
  • Support the development and deployment of machine learning & deep learning models and analytical products to manage and mitigate financial crime risk
  • Develop new analytical practices in partnership with other Research & Analytics functions.
  • Manage model risk through the application of controls and standards
  • Interpret and manipulate large data set to extract trends and identify issues and risk
  • Use data visualization techniques to present complex ideas and provide self-service analytics.
Requirements

Qualifications
  • 7-9 years of relevant experience.
  • Degree level educated (or relevant work experience) in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or any other quantitative discipline
  • Advanced analytical techniques e.g. regression analysis, predictive analysis, data mining, machine learning, deep learning & network modelling
  • Experience of one or more of the following: Python, Spark, SQL/HQL,R, Scala, Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Practical knowledge or some level of understand of ML engineering and operationalization of ML models to scale
  • Domain experience in financial crime would be an advantage but not essential (Fraud, Anti Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing, Anti-Bribery & Corruption, Sanctions)
  • Experience in visualization technologies such as Qlikview/sense, Tableau would be a plus
  • Strong analytical thought process and aptitude for creative problem solving.
  • Agile methodologies
Functional requirements \xe2\x80\x93
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in computer science, information technology.
  • Have a knowledge in Wholesale/Personal Banking along with Broad Knowledge of Fraud Typologies such as: Deposit Fraud, Account Takeover, Check Fraud, Mules etc.
  • Good knowledge of Fraud processes and systems, Familiarity with key Fraud Risk concepts and Global Fraud Analytics, especially model builds/ feature set.
  • Expertise in Agile engineering practices (e.g. Scrum, Kanban) as well as Disciplined Agile.
  • A structured approach to the management and planning of their own work (able to efficiently manage multiple tasks, prioritizing appropriately and transparently)
  • Knowledge of Python/ Spark (nice to have).
