So, join our team and feel like you\xe2\x80\x99re part of something bigger.Department DescriptionThe financial control team consists of 23 staff, the majority of which are qualified accountants based in the UK, India, and Ireland. The team is responsible for month-end closing, board reporting, CFO reporting and regulatory reporting for the UK entities. The team is also responsible for providing management information, monitoring risks & controls, ensuring compliance with the financial regulations of the local regulators, etc. Finance Services in India supports Financial Services, Group and some parts of Eight Roads and Canada businesses. Core activities for Financial Planning & Analysis, Financial Control and Procure to Pay are centralized with an aspiration to accelerate finance for future.Purpose of your roleThis role is an excellent opportunity to gain a broad understanding of financial controllership, UK business and its role in FIL\xe2\x80\x99s Financial Services business. The role will be primarily around managing financial accounting and reporting for FIL Life entities (UK & Ireland). The successful applicant will be exposed to GAAP based accounting and would be required to demonstrate flexibility and enthusiasm towards ad hoc queries and analysis. FIL Life entities forms a large part of the FIL Limited Group balance sheet and is highly visible to senior management, the Board and Audit Committee and the regulated status means that strong effective controls must be maintained. The role also involves working with the various business finance teams (WPFH, ISS, etc.), treasury, tax, risk, and compliance teams to support the governance framework for the FIL Life entities.Key Responsibilities:The role will involve following key responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Handling the financial accounting, consolidation, Board reporting, year-end financial statements, group & statutory audits, forecast, etc. for regulated entities in the UK & Ireland;
  • Assisting in business plans and strategies which are aligned with the organisational as well as CFO goals;
  • Communicating with senior stakeholders (including within Tax, Management Accounting and Business Finance teams) in performing analytical reviews to understand expense/ revenue trends;
  • Dealing with ad-hoc queries from stakeholders and finance community. This will include assisting with handling internal or external reporting and other financial analysis;
  • Managing year-end audit process including preparation of Financial Statements and audit deliverables;
  • Ensuring completeness and accuracy of the transfer pricing agreements with other group companies;
  • Liaison with the Company\xe2\x80\x99s auditors to drive improvements in the audit process;
  • Maintain a high level of risk awareness and develop a sound control environment to enable risk mitigation;
  • P&L analysis, asset reporting, explanation of monthly and quarterly variances etc.;
  • Preparation of regulatory returns for Central Bank of Ireland (\xe2\x80\x98CBI\xe2\x80\x99), Bank of England (\xe2\x80\x98BoE\xe2\x80\x99), Prudential Regulation Authority (\xe2\x80\x98PRA\xe2\x80\x99), etc.;
  • Preparing monthly financial results for the Life entities;
  • Present and lead legal entity financial results on monthly calls with onshore stakeholders;
  • Responsible for Balance sheet account reconciliations for associated accounts on monthly basis to ensure all balances items are settled within defined time;
  • Responsible for maintaining a constructive and professional relationship with similar onshore grade levels as well as other key onshore and offshore stakeholders;
  • Responsible for maintaining up to date procedure & governance documentations;
  • Work closely with the global financial control teams across UK, Europe, Asia and India;
  • Work on key initiatives based on business requirements. Identify, design, and implement process improvement initiatives for increased efficiency;
  • Leading the team of financial accountant(s) and performing the team lead activities like annual appraisals, 1-2-1s, review of team members deliverables before submitting to stakeholders, etc.
Experience and Qualifications RequiredTechnical
  • Qualified CA or an equivalent degree with more than 6 years of relevant work experience in Finance with exposure to accounting, data analytics and reporting;
  • Ability to balance attention to detail, to ensure accurate reporting and reconciliation, should see the bigger picture about financial transactions, and an appetite to dive into issues in depth as needed;
  • Basic knowledge of the Microsoft Office software packages; Proficient with Microsoft Excel;
  • Collaborative approach to develop, share, accept and implementation of ideas;
  • Strong financial reporting knowledge and awareness of current accounting issues;
  • Highly motivated with ambition to make a significant contribution to building the business;
  • Identify opportunities & implement solutions to improve process;
  • Knowledge of CFP, SmartView and Hyperion would be an advantage;
  • Prior knowledge of consolidation as well as regulatory entities accounting, and reporting would be an advantage.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels;
