Summary Role: Manager Design Engineering. Location: Bangalore- India Organic Center. Job Family: Research & Development Supervisor: TBD The Manager, Design Engineering will provide engineering and functional leadership to a team of Systems engineers in all aspects of new product and sustaining engineering efforts. (S)he will build and lead a world class engineering team that will deliver systems solutions to high volume disposable medical designs. (S)he will recruit, mentor and coach engineers in following BD\'s Global Product Development System [GPDS] and provide technical oversight and coaching to use relevant system tools and techniques to drive design decomposition, traceability, verification/validation strategy and DF(X). Along with site leader and in partnership with global R&D teams, she will help in MDS operating mechanisms including supporting the growth strategy for the center, to deliver roadmap strategy, Annual Strategic Review (ASR) deck, budgetary planning and execution to meet technical and financial commitments. Responsibilities: . Build, train, grown and nurture a world-class system engineering team consisting of R&D engineers and other cross-functional team members. . Provide strategic engineering leadership to a newly formed team in system design, design-decomposition, requirement to spec flow-down, verification strategy and DHF documentation . Drive design decisions at the intersection of material, form factor, process, and human factors considerations, that enable robust system architectures that are built upon deep subject matter expertise in key foundational technology domains. . Define the long-term vision and strategy for the India Organic Center and in collaboration with the Global R&D team, execute on a multi-year growth strategy. . Progressively build on critical tools and processes to ensure that in the medium-term, the India Center is self-sufficient while maintaining global linkages to constantly learn and evolve. . Foster and sustain a culture of collaboration, inclusiveness, curiosity and agility. . Ensure in depth research and assessment of the industry landscape from IP, regulatory, products, technologies standpoint. . Instill compliance to Design Control for medical devices and ensure compliance with all local, state, federal, international, and internal safety regulations, policies, and procedures. Qualification: . A 4-year engineering degree in relevant field is required (i.e. Mechanical/ Materials/ Chemical/ Industrial). An advanced degree is desired. . 12+ years of product development or product life-cycle experience in Medical Device and/or Pharmaceutical industries is required. . Minimum 4 years of experience directly leading product development teams (20+ members) in a cross functional environment in medical devices, pharmaceuticals or life sciences is required. . Proven ability to recruit, build talent and nurture teams through various milestones in a regulated environment to deliver designs on time, at cost and with quality is required. Ideally this experience would have been acquired in delivering high volume, disposable product environment. . Prior successful experience in a global, matrix environment with experience in roadmap creation, multi-year product roadmap planning and budgetary responsibilities is required. . Demonstrated ability to guide and mentor teams in solid works and other CAD/CAE tools, expertise in DMAIC/DFSS using Stata, R, SPSS or relevant statistical package is necessary. . In-depth understanding of various design tools used in requirement flow-down, tolerance analyses, loop-equations, FMEA, SPC and risk-retirement is required. . Demonstrated ability to lead via influence, to motivate and nurture a team-spirit and to create a boundaryless team culture is required. .
