Job Description

A Logistics Lead for wind turbine installation is responsible for coordinating the entire supply chain of turbine components and equipment from manufacturing to the final installation site, ensuring timely delivery, inventory management, and safety compliance. This role is critical for the efficient execution of complex, large-scale wind energy projects.
Key Responsibilities

  • Logistics Planning & Coordination: Plan and coordinate the end-to-end flow of materials, including large components (towers, blades, nacelles) and smaller parts, from suppliers to the construction site.
  • Inventory & Warehouse Management: Oversee the reception, storage, laydown, and internal transportation of components on-site, implementing tracking systems (e.g., ERP, WMS, SAP) to manage inventory accurately and ensure item availability.
  • Transportation Management: Manage the transport of all equipment, potentially including specialized or heavy-lift transportation, ensuring compliance with national and international transport regulations and coordinating with approved carriers.
  • Safety & Compliance: Define, implement, and enforce safety standards and procedures for all logistics and material handling operations, including lifting operations and the use of heavy machinery like cranes, forklifts, and telehandlers.
  • Stakeholder & Team Management: Act as the primary point of contact for internal teams (engineering, project management, construction) and external partners (subcontractors, suppliers, local authorities) to ensure seamless coordination and resolve issues.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation, including work progress reports, inventory records, and compliance documentation, and implement quality control procedures.
  • Risk Management & Optimization: Perform risk assessments for logistics activities, identify potential issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize processes, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Education: A degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Mechanical, Civil, or Marine Engineering, or a related field is typically required.
  • Experience: Significant experience (usually 5-7+ years) in supply chain management or logistics, with proven leadership experience, preferably within wind energy, heavy industrial construction, or the oil & gas sector.
  • Technical Knowledge: A strong understanding of logistics processes, project management, and relevant software systems (ERP, WMS) is essential.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent leadership, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills are crucial for managing diverse teams and complex projects.
  • Certifications: Relevant safety certifications like GWO Training, Slinger Banksman, and Telehandler/Forklift certifications may be required or beneficial.
