Boeing India Engineering and Technology Center (Bangalore)seeks a Lead Structural Analysis Engineer to support on Boeing Commercial Airplanes.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Performs and leads detailed structural analysis to determine structural integrity (margins of safety), using classical techniques and Boeing tools.
  • Develops, integrates and documents complex or unique structural requirements.
  • Supports responses to customer inquiries, service bulletin development, failure investigation, regulatory agency coordination and to show compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Guides structural design and configuration development.
  • Performs trade studies to optimize structure and meet program requirements.
  • Develops, deploys, and supports in-house and commercial application software to enable efficient performance of engineering tasks.
  • Integrates component-level structural models and perform integrated analysis, using finite element methods, to develop internal loads and stresses in order to verify structural integrity.
  • Documents structural analyses and data required to show compliance with Boeing, customer, and regulatory requirements.
  • Leads performance, integration and analysis of tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
  • Assists with investigation of emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.
  • Support Gated Reviews to validate the quality and completeness of work packages
  • Familiar with regulatory framework (FAA and Mil-Spec), for warranting safety and regulatory compliance
  • The selected candidate will Lead activities to validate and verify systems requirements.
  • Prioritizes, delegates and tracks performance and documentation of analyses of mechanisms/landing gear/ordnance components and systems selecting appropriate methods to validate or assess the design.
  • Supports proposal preparation and new business development efforts.
  • Works under minimal direction.
  • This role requires technical leadership skills to Train and coach others, guide, mentor and provide direction to technical decision making in system and product design and development process.
  • Responsibility includes creation of planning, scheduling, peer reviewing and lead the team to meet the on-time delivery and first-time quality.
  • This position will be responsible for coordinating and communicating regularly with team members in Boeing organizations and shall provide periodic update on project progress, quality metrics, project summaries, and other related documents.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelors or Master's degree in Mechanical/Aerospace/Applied Mechanics/Structural engineering and should have experience in stress analysis.
  • 13 to 16 Years of relevant Work experience (for masters please refer next section)
  • 8 or more years of structural analysis experience in aircraft structure, landing gear, doors and windows, materials and properties, analysis methodologies and processes.
  • Sound understanding of engineering fundamentals such as material properties, Free-body diagrams, structural loads and analysis methods
  • Experience in Performing requirement validation, traceability analysis
  • Must have experience working with cross-functional teams spread across multiple products and locations within Boeing and external partners.
  • Must be flexible, with a high tolerance for organizational complexity and ability to work with partners from within Boeing and outside, across different cultures and time-zones.
  • Communication - strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to prepare comprehensive reports, proposals. Candidate must be fluent in English, and familiar with MS Office tools.
  • Candidate must be a self-starter with a positive attitude, high ethics, and a track record of working successfully under pressure in a time-constrained environment.
  • Candidate must demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to mentor and teach subordinates and partners to accomplish project and departmental goals and objectives.
  • Performs with highest ethics.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Senior level of experience in structural analysis of metallic and/or composite materials and various airframe structures.
  • Extensive knowledge of aircraft structure, materials strengths and properties, design criteria, loading conditions, and processes.
  • Exercises engineering judgment in developing appropriate decisions considering decision criteria, implications, and possible consequences, to ensure product design integrity.
  • Occasional travel may be required in support of the program and customer.
  • Experience with Boeing specific applications such IAS, CWS, SA and others.
  • Experience with static and fatigue analysis
  • Experience/Familiarity with structural design principles for aircraft primary structures (e.g., fatigue, damage tolerance, corrosion, stress analysis, statics, materials strength, material characteristics, and repair techniques).
  • Experience working with finite element models/simulations using NASTRAN/PATRAN, ABAQUS, Hyper mesh, etc.
  • Experience with 3D modeling such as CATIA/ENOVIA for model interrogation and verification.
  • Programming experience such as VBA, MATLAB, Python, Visual Basics and others.
  • Strong written, verbal communications and presentation skills.
  • Candidate must demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work across functional teams and organizations
  • Willingness to expand into technical areas without prior experience.
  • Desire to continuously improve our airplanes.
Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 13 to 16 years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+ 12 years' related work experience etc.)
