About the position The Lead Solution Architect is a senior and exceptionally broad customer-facing architecture role and is critical to the success of Property & Casualty (P&C) Solutions Technology team. This architecture role acts as a bridge between the P&C Solutions business and the digital insurance and reinsurance needs of the end customers. This role provides Architecture & Technology leadership across all products and solutions that the P&C Solutions team owns and/or builds. This role reports directly to the Head of Technology for P&C Solutions. The Lead Solution Architect operates at an enterprise level with a strong understanding of P&C Insurance, P&C Reinsurance and/or Financial Services advising beyond a single opportunity building a technology strategy that delivers on the end customer\'s long-term business and digital goals. They work in collaboration providing the end-to-end solution architecture for large-scale insurance and reinsurance transformational solutions in areas such as Property, Specialty, Data Analytics, Data Ingestion, etc. The common threads are the overall complexity the significant business transformation impact the use of cloud infrastructure and services and the cross-pillar/crossline of business nature of the solution. In these complex solutions, the Lead Solution Architect will work with other architects/technology teams to build a complete high-level architecture design that covers the static architecture, the operational architecture, and the migration architecture (as applicable) necessary to deliver success, together with a business capability roadmap to deliver business change. Strong understanding of application architecture and design, use of Design patterns, leading code reviews & running technical POCs Responsible to own and drive the DevSecOps shared service within P&C Solutions Summary Translates Ideas into deliverable enterprise-wide architectural approaches and technology strategies collaborating with a wide range of solution engineering and consulting architects Enterprise-wide architecture experience Create an actionable roadmap in collaboration with teams to prioritize change and develop realistic, realizable plans for execution Runs Architecture Governance process, establishes best practices and standards across Solutions Architecture and DevSecOps Partners with business teams to understand strategies, challenges, and goals Fosters advocacy - continues contact with business teams to ensure ongoing value realization Fosters coaching and mentoring of all the technology team members across P&C Solutions Collaborates with Head of Technology & Engineering Leads for the overall Talent management and resource planning needs. Works closely with Swiss Re group Enterprise Architecture team to adhere with the Digital Governance Framework and enterprise architecture & Design standards Qualifications Experience Required University Degree in Computer Sciences or similar IT related fields Extensive background as (Lead/Senior) Enterprise Architect, Digital Advisor, CTO or Head of Architecture 15+ years\' experience relevant to this position Ability to craft and articulate strategic solutions In-depth knowledge of architecture methodologies and best practices Wide knowledge of IT market and trends Proven expertise in SaaS, PaaS, IaaS and both Business and Digital Transformation related topics Knowledge of architecture frameworks like e.g., TOGAF, COBIT Wide background including architecture, implementation and delivery of large-scale cloud and business solutions in real-world situations Experience crafting and driving strategic technology roadmaps aligned to business outcomes Significant C-level presentation and consultative selling experience Strong communication, influencing and negotiation skills Knowledge and experience in Agile methodology and project management certifications is a plus Prior experience working in an insurtech and/or product development organization a plus Prior experience working on Digital Transformation, Automation and AI/ML initiatives a plus Basic understanding and knowledge of P&C insurance and reinsurance industry and products and services offered by various P&C insurance and reinsurance companies Experience defining a variety of solution types, such as new system builds, legacy enhancements, build vs. buy analysis, integrating COTS software packages, Software as a Service or Platform as a Service as components of the solution Experience with broad technology delivery, including custom development using various development languages Event Driven Architecture and Mesh Architecture Proven experience in various software architecture designs Experience working with various cloud technologies such as Microsoft Azure and/or private cloud platforms Prior experience managing a team of Solution, Cloud and Application Software Architects Experience driving technical planning and solutions for software portfolio, including authoring, or managing the development of software designs, driving vendor evaluations, and justifying technical recommendations Experience with providing technical leadership, mentoring on software engineering design, development, and frameworks, analyzing alternatives, and presenting technical options to required stakeholders About the team The person hired in this role will be a part of the Reinsurance Solutions Technology team.
