Job Description

:
1) Job Purpose
Ensuring electrical system reliability through Power System studies leading to reduction of electrical outages/interruptions in Hindalco units.
Conduct and analyze and recommend solution through power system study covering, load flow, fault analysis, relay coordination, earthing system, power redundancy, intelligent protection system and their fault analysis and operational reliability issues etc. to ensure its reliable operation.
Benchmark Hindalco electrical protection system, condition monitoring and testing of electrical equipment compared to best practice and ensuring its adoption.
Analyze and recommending solutions for timely and quick isolation of faults, decipher the sequence of events of ILMS/ SCADA and expert opinion on relay coordination.
Identify, evaluate innovative solutions relevant to Units for improve electrical system reliability, and support for installation of advance state of art relays and other protection system.
Conduct performance assessment of Electrical system during energy audits.

Conducting Power System Study for ensuring reliable electrical system * Conduct Power System Study, comprising load flow and fault analysis, relay coordination, earthing fault etc.

• Providing a feasible solution for Outage reduction
• Resolve queries related to Electrical Systems
• Conducting special studies like Transformer Switching, Motor Starting, Genset Sizing, Switch yard reliability etc.
• Support Unit for execution of suggestions. Technical review of proposed schemes.
• Regular monitoring of the progress and appraise of the results achieved.
• Regular engagement of the business leaders through periodic progress reporting,

Power System Infrastructure Study * Evaluate the Green Field / Brown Field Projects

• Identify bottlenecks and provide recommendations.
• Propose latest technologies for the betterment and enhancement of the system reliability.
• Remove the hindrances in safety.
• Innovative solutions & infrastructure evaluation for reduction in inventory & maintenance
• Support Unit for execution of suggestions. Technical review of proposed schemes.
• Coordinate with vendors to discuss/ review the proposed offers.
• Regular monitoring of the progress and appraise of the results achieved.

Energy audits * Support the Energy Audit team to conduct an Energy efficiency study.

• Provide solutions to reduce/mitigate the inefficient system through a power system analysis during an energy audit.
• Power Quality Measurement and Analysis
• Support Unit for execution of suggestions. Technical review of proposed schemes.
• Coordinate with vendors to discuss/ review the proposed offers.
• Regular monitoring of the progress and appraise of the results achieved.

Troubleshooting * Support Units teams for their electrical system problems

• Analyze and recommending solutions for timely and quick isolation of faults,
• Decipher the sequence of events of ILMS/ SCADA
• Expert opinion on relay coordination.
• Review of RCA of electrical system trappings and suggest the improvements

Knowledge dissemination * Benchmark Hindalco electrical protection system, condition monitoring and testing of electrical equipment compared to best practice and ensuring its adoption.

• Sharing best practices of condition monitoring for enhancing awareness on electrical equipment operation reliability.
• Know-how documents with Group Units.
• Non compliances of any legal / statuary requirement.

People & Talent * Prepare MDP for improving functional/behavioral skills and adhere to the same.

• Utilize acquired skills to deliver the desired performance.
• Mentoring Unit Technical Teams on the electrical system reliability and Impart training to Plant team on the same.
• Creating and maintaining information channels through interactions with OEMs / Suppliers / Prof. Bodies / Group Units for having awareness on new/prudent Equipment / Systems.
