About India Engineering and Open Blue Solutions Center India Engineering & Open Blue Solutions is a part of the global product development and software engineering organization of Johnson Controls International. With over 1500 employees working for multiple engineering disciplines and specialization, we are spread across Pune, Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Gurgaon. We work in the product development space which ranges from core mechanical design of HVAC and building components, automation integration, development of embedded electronic components, software design and development, digital twin, cloud application, machine learning and data science applications. What will you do? You will be a part of IP-CoE based at Pune, India and responsible for supporting the IP monetizing activities of Global IP team at the direction of legal and for the IP legal team. Along with this, you will conduct patent search and analytics and support invention harvesting support to Engineering and Research functions of Johnson Controls International How will you do it? At the direction of legal and for the IP legal team

• Drive the strategic initiatives of JCI Intellectual Property legal group to monetize the patent portfolio.
• Independently handle deployment projects and provide support to the Global team in activities like M&A due diligence, enforcement, licensing & litigation.
• Collaborate with business and IP attorneys to identify potential targets for monetizing the Intellectual Property.
• Assisting global attorneys and external partner firms by providing high quality search results for different types of patent searches.
• Conduct Invalidity searches with the assistance of global litigation counsel.
• Conduct clearance searches based on request from product IP counsel.
• Conduct Evidence of Use searches for identifying enforcement opportunities and guiding prosecution strategy after conducting File History Analysis.
• Identified 3rd party products and prepare high quality Claim charts .
• Reviewing work products of junior team members, and mentoring team members for patent search and analysis.
• Lead process improvement efforts to increase efficiency and deliveries of the team.
• Develop patent protection strategy for marquee projects through landscape analysis/ competitive analysis.
• Work with inventors at India Engineering Centre to identify potential patentable features and assist them invention disclosure drafting & submission.

• B.E/ B. Tech/ME/M. Tech \xe2\x80\x93 Electrical/ Electronics/Instrumentation/Industrial/ Computer Science/Mechanical.
• 6 to 10 years of patent searching/analytics experience at in-house and leading LPO/KPOs.
• Hands on experience in IP monetizing activities like patent litigation, licensing and enforcement.
• Extensive knowledge of product mappings for identifying patents for patent licensing.
• Good understanding of patent classifications, database, search tools and methodologies.
• Excellent understanding of US, EP, and India patenting laws.
• Good understanding of basic engineering concepts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to handle multiple deliverables & ensuring timely delivery.

• Part of in-house IP strategy team.
• Certification in Patent searching and Analysis.
• Domain Knowledge in Building Management systems and HVAC products.
