About the position We are looking for a Lead Electrical Engineer - HVDC to support our team within various business verticals of Energy Business Unit. We work on various areas like Wind, Offshore & Onshore Substations, etc. The Energy Systems Spearhead within Energy Business unit is looking for a dynamic Specialist in High Voltage Direct Current field. Key responsibilities, tasks & important relations You shall be working with our technical team. The new position shall be our focal for HVDC and dynamic reactive compensation systems and providing technical leadership. Should have the experience of 15 to 20 or higher years in High voltage design out of which at least 5 to 7 years of experience in complete HVDC electrical system and equipment design, integration and interfacing engineering. Design / review and detailed engineering for complete HVDC electrical system including plant electrification, DC converter/ valves station, HV power lines, HV cables, transmission and distribution substations Technical leadership of all HVDC and dynamic reactive compensation equipment, with portfolio-wide Technical Authority across full asset lifetime. Work with dedicated engineering specialists establishing a framework of processes, guidelines and other resources to maximize operational efficiency of Engineering. Lead technical investigations on asset performance/optimisation and equipment failures across operational fleet. Act as proactive and visible Engineering link to all operational assets. Act as approving authority for technical documentation related to the design, construction, commissioning, and maintenance procedures across HVDC and dynamic reactive power compensation scope. Support Engineering Management in identifying competency and capability gaps within department and seek resourcing solutions (internal and external) to maintain and build range of technical capability. Act as technical ambassador for industry events/consultations relating to scope area. Support Package and Product Engineering to inject technical leadership into all stages of the project lifecycle. Control levels of technical variation within Product/Project portfolio and building learnings into standardisation strategy and processes. Act as a mentor for colleagues in scope area. Demonstrate technical leadership and extend influence beyond normal job responsibilities. Coordination and follow up of packages with system and equipment Vendors. Coordination with Transmission System Owner and substation owner / contractor, issue and follow up of CSS questionnaire. In this role as a technical lead, you will ensure that activities related to all engineering disciplines within the project are efficiently and cost-effectively executed in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements. As a technical lead for all engineering disciplines - evaluates, selects, and applies standard techniques, procedures and criteria to perform task or sequence of tasks, for HVDC projects across globe. Provide technical support in project installation and site activities, clarifying potential issues or providing solutions to correct engineering errors. Provides technical support to commissioning and start-up activities. Assists in creating proposals for HVDC projects in terms of proposal documents and engineering estimates (man hours, budget, and other method statements) Assists in performing engineering risk analysis including change management (in case of additional scope of work, cost impact, time impact, risk quantifications, etc.) for the proposals and projects. Create work plans and cost estimates in one\'s area of responsibility. Interacts with other Ramboll business unit focal/ lead engineer, customers, contractors, suppliers and attends project meetings and presents all technical aspects of project assignments. Collaborates and networks with engineering colleagues within Ramboll and shares best practice across different projects and disciplines. Review / Preparation and evaluation of general project documentation in addition to engineering deliverables. Handling multi discipline task-oriented projects. Experienced in parametric modelling of cables, transformers, converters and other electrical Equipment in simulation tools for the complete HVDC system. Experienced in performing technical, economic and environmental studies Knowledge of various international standards like IEC, IEEE/ANSI, BS, CIGRE, DNV standards for high voltage and medium voltage system and equipment. Skilled user of Microsoft office - Excel, Word Experience within the design of HVDC plants / stations on the following: Control boards for HVDC systems Control, Interlocks, Trip Matrix, logics and monitoring Relay protection and Metering for high voltage systems Components for high voltage systems SCADA and other communication architecture Inspection at the production site/site of components and assembly Participation in relevant tests at suppliers and at the production site/site. Follow-up of quality assurance documentation Important Relations. HOD/Team Lead/Sr. Engineer & team Works with other engineers in the project team of REN EEC and DK team Works with HV Engineering counterparts in other REN offices Qualifications & Experience Master/Bachelor of Electrical Engineering preferably high voltage engineering/ power electronics from recognized University Preparing / reviewing electrical design basis report, detailed study report, technical specifications and data sheets of HVDC electrical system and equipment. Experienced in power system simulation and studies of HVDC system by using any one of the software - PSCAD, DiGSILENT PowerFactory, PSSE and ETAP. Calculation of induced voltages due to nearby HV AC cables / Overhead lines Calculation of inductive and capacitive coupling Earthing and bonding concept including calculation of touch and step voltage Knowledge of fault condition in high voltage transmission grids Preparing / reviewing of magnetic field calculations using COMSOL, CDEGS, PSCAD and EMTP or similar software. Experience in the design of HV/ EHV substation projects including GIS / AIS (Primary and Secondary engineering) Designing various overhead power transmission, distribution lines, cables, magnetic field calculations including substation and lines at 33kV / 110kV / 132kV / 220kV / 230kV / 400kV / 765kV/ 1200kV. Experienced in overall HVDC electrical equipment arrangement layout, cable routing, illumination, grounding / earthing, lightning protection system design and layouts including preparation of Bill of Materials (MTO) Working at Ramboll To work at Ramboll means being part of a people organization.
