Job Description

A construction lab technician performs tests on construction materials like concrete, soil, asphalt, and aggregates to ensure they meet quality standards. Key responsibilities include sample collection and preparation, conducting tests such as compressive strength and sieve analysis, maintaining and calibrating lab equipment, and accurately recording and reporting results.
Key responsibilities

• Sample handling: Collect, transport, and prepare samples of construction materials such as soil, concrete, sand, cement, aggregate, and asphalt.
• Material testing: Perform standardized laboratory tests to determine properties like concrete strength, soil compaction, and asphalt quality.
• Equipment management: Maintain, calibrate, and clean laboratory instruments and equipment to ensure accuracy and proper working condition.
• Data recording: Accurately record all test data and results, often using electronic systems.
• Reporting: Prepare test reports, liaise with senior technicians and engineers, and ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
• Quality control: Monitor and ensure that materials meet the required standards and specifications for the construction project.
• Safety and cleanliness: Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area in the lab and at the construction site.
