The Kitchen Steward is responsible for ensuring the
cleanliness, hygiene, and organization
of all kitchen and dishwashing areas. The role supports the culinary and service teams by maintaining kitchen sanitation standards, cleaning equipment, and ensuring all utensils, crockery, and cutlery are properly washed and ready for use.
Key Responsibilities:
Clean and sanitize
kitchen equipment, utensils, pots, pans, crockery, and cutlery
using dishwashing machines or by hand.
Maintain cleanliness of all
kitchen areas
, including floors, walls, storage rooms, and work surfaces.
Ensure
garbage segregation and disposal
as per hygiene and safety standards.
Operate and maintain cleaning equipment (dishwashers, glass washers, etc.) safely and efficiently.
Support chefs and kitchen staff by ensuring adequate supply of clean utensils and equipment during service.
Follow proper
chemical handling
procedures and maintain cleaning supplies.
Ensure kitchen drains are clean and unclogged at all times.
Maintain proper organization of
clean and dirty items
in the stewarding area.
Assist in
inventory control
of cleaning materials and report shortages to the Stewarding Supervisor.
Follow
HACCP, food safety, and hygiene standards
at all times.
Report any maintenance issues, breakages, or safety hazards to the supervisor immediately.
Support in
deep cleaning schedules
for kitchen equipment and areas as planned by management.
