Job Description

A kitchen helper's job duties include:

Cleaning: Washing dishes, utensils, and equipment, mopping and sweeping the kitchen, and taking out the trash Food preparation: Assisting with basic food preparation tasks like chopping, peeling, and slicing ingredients Receiving and storing: Unloading food supplies from delivery trucks and storing them in the kitchen Setting tables: Clearing and cleaning tables, setting them with clean dishes and flatware, and refilling condiments Packing takeout: Packing takeout orders for customers Sanitizing: Cleaning and sanitizing kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas Operating equipment: Operating kitchen equipment like ovens, grills, and fryers Following guidelines: Following all food safety and sanitation guidelines
Kitchen helpers work in a variety of settings, including restaurants, clubs, fast food outlets, and catering companies. They learn about kitchen and restaurant operations, and they may work with and learn from chefs
