Assist the Commis Chefs and Head Chef with basic food preparation tasks (mise en place*), such as washing vegetables, peeling, slicing, simple chopping, and assembling basic ingredients.
Stock Rotation:
Assist with receiving and unpacking deliveries, ensuring all goods are correctly dated, labeled, and stored according to
FIFO (First In, First Out)
principles.
Restocking:
Keep the chef stations supplied with clean utensils, plates, and essential ingredients throughout the shift, particularly during busy service periods.
2. Operational Support
Equipment Setup:
Assist in setting up the kitchen before service and breaking it down afterward, ensuring all equipment is clean and correctly stored.
General Aid:
Run errands between the kitchen, storage areas, and service areas as needed to support the flow of operations.
Health and Safety:
Adhere strictly to all company and local health, safety, and hygiene policies, including wearing appropriate protective clothing and reporting any safety hazards.
Qualifications & Requirements
Physical Stamina:
Ability to stand for long periods, lift and carry moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs), and handle a physically demanding, fast-paced environment.
Attitude:
A strong work ethic, reliability, and a positive, helpful attitude.
Teamwork:
Ability to follow verbal instructions accurately and work effectively as part of a team.
Hygiene:
Understanding of basic food hygiene standards is a significant advantage.
Availability:
Flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
