Job Introduction BBC World Service is an international multimedia broadcaster, part of BBC News, delivering a wide range of language and regional services and working increasingly with other parts of BBC News to serve global audiences. BBC Tamil is one of the oldest language services in BBC World Service, along with BBC Hindi. As part of a historic and exciting expansion, the BBC World Service launched four new language services serving audiences in India – Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi and Telugu. All six Indian language services are based predominantly in the BBC’s Delhi bureau, working closely and collaboratively with all teams in the Delhi office and as well as with teams in BBC’s headquarters in London, to deliver an editorial output of the highest standard. All Language Services are multiplatform and have a multimedia website with a focus on digital video, text, interactivity for both desktop and mobile platforms, and a daily TV news programme for the Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Gujarati services. Each service aims to make international news relevant to the Indian audience, and bring international perspectives to bear on Indian and global developments. Main Responsibilities The Digital Journalist will be responsible for error-free writing, editing and producing a range of digital content - in text, video, and audio formats for our Website, TV, Social Platforms and podcasts, to the highest professional standards. You will be required to present content in video and audio formats for BBC Tamil. This can be via Live or recorded formats. You will also be required to exercise editorial judgement of the highest standards in developing story ideas and producing accurate and impartial journalism. Are you the right candidate?
