Kitchen Helper
Job Description
A restaurant kitchen helper is responsible for assisting the kitchen staff in preparing and cooking food, cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment, and ensuring the overall cleanliness and organization of the kitchen. Some of the specific duties and responsibilities of a restaurant kitchen helper may include: Assisting the chef and cooks with food preparation, such as chopping vegetables, portioning ingredients, and preparing sauces and dressings. Helping to assemble dishes, including plating and garnishing. Operating and maintaining kitchen equipment, such as ovens, stoves, grills, and deep fryers. Cleaning and sanitizing kitchen surfaces and equipment, including counters, sinks, cutting boards, and utensils. Stocking and organizing kitchen inventory, including food supplies and cleaning materials. Following food safety and sanitation guidelines and ensuring compliance with health department regulations. Taking out the trash and recycling and maintaining a clean and orderly kitchen. Communicating effectively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations. Assisting with inventory management and ordering supplies when necessary. Assisting with other tasks as needed, such as receiving and storing deliveries and washing dishes.
