Position Overview:
The IM Carry and Valuation Technology Team of Morgan Stanley Investment Management is looking for Associate position as Cloud and Data Engineer with strong data engineering and analytics background and inclination.
This position focuses on working very closely across multiple technology teams and initiatives across Private Equity, Credit, Infrastructure and Real Asset businesses within IM in order to centrally manage all the data sourcing and distribution of data in controlled and centralized manner. IM Carry and Valuation initiative utilizes data from a variety of sources including external fund admins with objective to build standardized financial calculations, which require a uniform and harmonized definition of sourced and produced data across businesses and accessed in uniform way. Data Engineer in this space would be responsible in building or enhancing Fund Admin feeds, collaboratively working with IM Data team in implementing our Data Strategy in building reusable data pipelines using data processing engines (based on Spark/Scala/Python/Cloud) for processing and storing data at multiple stages, implementing quality rules, reconciliations and ultimately onboarding into IMs data warehouse and to Snowflake Cloud. In addition, data engineer would be responsible in building analytics platform to enable business user in utilizing data in most meaningful way.

Qualifications

Skills required:
2-5 Years of Experience as Hard Core developer
Experience with Java/Scala for building enterprise applications and modern UI frameworks (Angular or React) for building intuitive web applications.
Exposure to Data oriented languages/Frameworks e.g. Python, R, Scala, Spark with ability to process and analyze large amount of complex data using various data technologies
Understanding and aspiration of designing, building, maintaining large scale data platforms including but not limited to Data Warehouses, Data Marts, Feeds Platforms, ETL Tools.
Strategic thinking in designing domain specific data models and manage controlled changes to data model with ability to track dependencies.
Exposure in building BI Dashboards and Reports using one of the modern toolset (Power BI, Tableau, Business Objects).
Ability to design and build Data APIs utilizing programming languages like Java for consumptions purpose.
Effectively collaborate with project team to understand the requirements, analyze them and apply new technologies to implement optimal solutions.
Strong problem-solving skills with ability to analyze and understand data
Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to communicate clearly and concisely
Inclination towards Financial domain knowledge with strong data and business analysis skills.
Exposure to development and secured data movement in Azure Cloud Environment and Snowflake
