The Role Responsibilities

Job Role

A key role which will be responsible for delivering crucial elements of the Open Account Trade Finance growth strategy, within which revenue is targeted to grow by 2.5x by 2027.

Globally, Invoice Finance is the single largest product within our Open Account Trade proposition, both at an asset and revenue level, and has seen steady growth during 2023 YTD. The product is now on a transformational journey with a laser focus on simplification of the client experience, a target to increase digital initiation by 2x and significant simplification of end-to-end product governance.

The role entails critical responsibilities in relation to Digital Channels, Product Development, Commercialisation, Product Marketing and Product Governance.

Principal capabilities which will underpin success in this role include

  • Ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives to successful, client-oriented outcomes within defined timescales and budgets. Such initiatives are often delivered within geographically dispersed and culturally diverse project teams.
  • Experience in delivering digital transformation initiatives within trade finance, coupled with a broad appreciation of the broader digitisation landscape.
  • Strong appreciation of external market including product innovations, competitive landscape, evolving client needs and political, economic, social and technological factors which could impact the performance of the product.
  • Firm and demonstrable grasp of risk management and how risks can be mitigated and controlled in relation to the Invoice Finance product. This awareness should span key disciplines including credit, fraud, compliance, operational, legal and market risk.
  • Engaging, enthusiastic and concise communications style both in written and verbal forms.
  • Critical mindset and excellent attention to detail.
Strategy

Product Development - Assume leading role across the design and execution of the Invoice Finance product development strategy.

Digital Channels - End to end ownership of key digital channels for IF products, enabling optimal client experience, shortening TAT and enabling STP.

Business

Commercialisation - Lead commercialisation contact in Central Product Team for several critical IF markets. This includes both review of regular deal-flow and championing increased IF utilization to meet agreed commercial targets.

Product Marketing - Responsibility for IF product marketing materials, campaigns, and engagement strategy. This includes both internally and externally facing materials designed to optimally position the value proposition to drive growth.

Processes

In addition to broad engagement in the Product Governance processes related to the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s Invoice Finance products, this role will also make important contributions to processes owned by other functions related to these products. This includes Operations (GDOIs, DOIs) and CRC and Implementation.

People and Talent

This exciting role offers the opportunity to establish and grow effective working relationships with key leaders across the Standard Chartered Bank global trade and working capital leadership team, risk functional owners, Credit, Trade Risk Unit, Sales, Structured Solutions and Development, Operations, Implementation and Digital Channels (DCDA). Furthermore, to drive effective commercialisation of product initiatives, the role will require highly effective relationships across the regional trade product teams and their functional partners.

Risk Management

This role requires excellent appreciation of the Risk environment within which the Invoice Finance products operate. This includes Credit, Fraud, Compliance, Operational, Legal, Market and Technology Risk. The role enables the development of a robust portfolio with strong risk and governance standards by working closely with the RFOs and Trade Risk Unit. It also ensures compliance with Product Programmes, CAs and front to back alignment with Functions to deliver compliance in coordination with relevant stakeholders.

Governance

Product Governance - Joint responsibility for the delivery and implementation of timely and high-quality product governance materials which serve to align to Trade\xe2\x80\x99s new principle-driven approach.

Regulatory and Business Conduct

  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

  • Embed Here for good and the Group\xe2\x80\x99s brand and values within the Invoice and Channel Finance Central Product Management Team.
Our Ideal Candidate
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree level at a minimum.
  • Relevant additional qualifications related to Banking, Accountancy of Business Management are welcomed.
Role Specific Technical Competencies
  • Design and commercialisation of new products and propositions for specific sectors and markets
  • Monitor against budgeted revenue forecasts, highlight underperforming products / regions and devise remedial and supportive action
  • Ensure and Demonstrate that Products are Fit for Purpose / Fit for Growth and Fit for Sale
  • Production, socialisation and actions derived from product performance analytics, including execution
  • Active, demonstrable Ownership and execution of e2e product life cycle activities through Product Annual Assessment processes, at minimum
  • Creation of Regional Feedback loop representing industry / client / regulatory and competitor insight to global centres of excellence within TB, GTO
  • Competitiveness and external capabilities benchmarking and communication of same to global teams
  • Communication, training and pipeline building with Sales on global value-add propositions
  • RFP and pre-RFP support in solutioning and SME support and client engagement - not \xe2\x80\x9cholding the pen\xe2\x80\x9d
  • Create industry value propositions, with quantifiable, differentiated benefits and build pipeline and focus
  • Risk (Operational, Credit, Regulatory, FCC and Conduct) - ensuring respective trade product meets the highest standard from a risk and conduct-based perspective
  • Ensure compliance with Product Programmes, CAs and front to back alignment with Functions to deliver compliance in coordination with relevant stakeholders
