Position Title: Infrastructure Operations Manager

Reporting to: Director, Infrastructure Operations

Description

We\xe2\x80\x99re looking for a passionate Infrastructure Operations Manager to help us support and manage our global hybrid cloud infrastructure for the entire company.

You will be responsible for the Global Infrastructure Operations Team, based out of the Elanco Innovation and Alliance Centre in India. We are expanding our capabilities by building a new 24/7 reliability team supporting our global hybrid cloud environment. You will gain experience in a few areas, examples include People Management, Infrastructure Operations, Hybrid Cloud, IT Service Management, AIOps, Reporting & Analytics and more. Our hybrid cloud services are a critical capability across the company, and we want your help to design, build and manage this team.

Due to Elanco\xe2\x80\x99s separation from Eli Lilly & Company, we\xe2\x80\x99ve taken this opportunity to design a modern infrastructure from the ground up. We\xe2\x80\x99ve been running on this new infrastructure for a couple of years, but this is just the beginning of this exciting change for Elanco.

The Team

The TechOps team was created following the IPO of Elanco, separating from Elanco\xe2\x80\x99s previous parent company Eli Lilly & Company. TechOps is responsible for all IT Infrastructure across the enterprise and looking to take the opportunity to think differently, build for the future and use modern technologies, services and processes. Internally, we like to describe TechOps as a \xe2\x80\x98start-up within an enterprise\xe2\x80\x99!

You\xe2\x80\x99ll spend your time:

• Building & managing the global infrastructure operations team (this is a new 24/7 Level 2 team)
• Recruiting new people into the team
• Running people management activities (e.g. performance reviews, development planning, career planning, 1:1s, coaching)
• Managing holidays, sickness, travel and recognition for the team
• Embedding the Elanco culture and ensuring the team are well integrated with Elanco IT
• Designing and managing the shift schedule for the team
• Overseeing day-to-day activities of the 24/7 Level 2 Team, ensuring all services and infrastructure work reliably and securely
• Overseeing maintenance and compliance activities (e.g. patching, maintenance, upgrades, lifecycles)
• Handling escalations related to our Hybrid Cloud Environment
• Owning Problem Management for the Hybrid Cloud environment
• Collaborating with Services & Engineering Teams to ensure that all new services are properly supported
• Increasing awareness of IT security practices across the teams in collaboration with the InfoSec Team
• Producing reporting and visuals to help us measure how things are performing
• Driving continuous improvement
• Partnering closely with Level 1 & Level 3 teams to ensure things are working well
• Communicating to other teams (e.g. creating a communication to raise awareness of a big incident, what caused it and how it was resolved)
• Occasionally getting hands on with technology to support and guide your team.
• Ensuring the team are creating simple documentation that is always kept up to date
• Driving the team towards our strategic goals (e.g. automating manual activities, shifting services left towards L1)
• Ensuring the team are adhering to SLA targets
• Working onsite at the Elanco Innovation and Alliance Centre in India
• Ensuring security, privacy and quality practices are embedded in everything we do

Logistics

The first stage is the application. After this, successful candidates will be invited to a 30min interview over web conference. Successful candidates from the first interview, will be invited to a 1-hour interview over web conference with 2 different individuals.

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in information technology/technical environment
• 3+ years of experience in a people management role
• 3+ years of experience in cloud, hybrid cloud, IT operations, or similar areas
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (e.g. Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, VMWare)
• Experience with infrastructure as code (e.g. Ansible, Terraform)
• Experience with IT Service Management tools (e.g. ServiceNow)
• Experience with ITIL framework and/or SRE methodology
• Strong organizational and communications skills with examples of being able to explain things in a simple and concise way
• Strong analytical skills
• A technical approach to problem solving
• Experience with facilitation and co-ordination of projects

Education Requirements

Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree.

Other Information

Occasional travel may be required.
