This role involves supporting application teams, automating infrastructure, ensuring high availability, and enforcing best practices for cloud operations, security, and performance. Key responsibilities include designing and implementing cloud solutions using AWS services such as EC2, VPC, S3, IAM, RDS, Lambda, and ECS/EKS, as well as building secure network architectures with VPCs, subnets, routing, load balancers, and security groups. The engineer develops and manages Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK, automates provisioning and deployments through CI/CD pipelines, and optimizes infrastructure for scalability and cost efficiency. Additional duties include implementing monitoring and alerting with tools like CloudWatch, CloudTrail, ELK, and Prometheus/Grafana, maintaining high availability and disaster recovery strategies, and troubleshooting performance issues. Security responsibilities include enforcing IAM policies, KMS, WAF, GuardDuty, and Secrets Manager, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with standards such as SOC2, ISO, or HIPAA. Collaboration with DevOps, SRE, and development teams is essential to support cloud-native applications and provide guidance on AWS governance and cost optimization.
