Job Summary
The Indian Commis 1 - Curry Section is responsible for preparing and cooking Indian curry dishes according to established recipes and standards, ensuring consistent quality, taste, and presentation while maintaining hygiene and food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook Indian curry dishes (veg & non-veg) as per standard recipes
Assist Chef de Partie in daily kitchen operations
Ensure correct use of spices, gravies, and cooking techniques
Maintain quality, portion control, and presentation of dishes
Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards (HACCP)
Handle mise en place for the curry section
Ensure proper storage and labeling of food items
Minimize wastage and report shortages to senior chefs
Maintain cleanliness of the work area and equipment
Follow instructions from senior kitchen staff and work as part of a team
Skills & Requirements
Basic to intermediate knowledge of Indian cuisine and curries
Experience in hotel or restaurant kitchen preferred
Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
Good knife skills and basic cooking techniques
Team player with a positive attitude
Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and holidays
Experience & Qualification
1-3 years experience in Indian kitchen (curry section preferred)
Culinary certificate or hotel management background is an advantage
