Role Overview
The Banker Authorizer is responsible for verifying, validating, and authorizing financial and non-financial transactions in accordance with bank policies, RBI guidelines, and internal control frameworks. The role ensures zero-error processing, compliance adherence, fraud prevention, and smooth branch/operations functioning.
? Key Responsibilities
1. Transaction Authorization & Verification
Authorize cash and non-cash transactions entered by the maker.
Validate high-value transactions as per approval limits.
Approve NEFT/RTGS/IMPS, fund transfers, cheque payments, and charge reversals.
Verify signatures, KYC documents, and account details before approval.
Ensure maker-checker compliance for all operations.
2. KYC, AML & Compliance
Validate customer KYC, CDD, and EDD wherever applicable.
Conduct AML checks, sanctions/PEP screening, and monitor suspicious activity.
Ensure transactions adhere to RBI, internal compliance, and audit requirements.
Ensure branch follows regulatory guidelines and operations policies.
3. Customer Account & Service Authorization
Approve account opening requests (CASA, Term Deposits, NRI, minors, etc.).
Authorize modifications: mobile/email updates, address change, nomination update.
Approve service requests such as stop payments, cheque book issue, DD/PO issuance.
Validate and authorize dormant-to-active account requests.
4. Operational Control & Risk Management
Maintain dual control over vault, keys, ATM cash loading, and sensitive stationery.
Review daily control reports, exception reports, and system overrides.
Flag and withhold suspicious, incomplete, or risk-prone transactions.
Ensure accurate documentation and rectify operational discrepancies.
5. Audit, Reporting & Documentation
Support internal/external audits by providing required data and compliance evidence.
Maintain authorizer logs, system reports, and exception registers.
Ensure adherence to SOPs and minimize audit observations.
Ensure error-free processing and continuous improvement in branch operations.
