The HR Executive/Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of the human resources function for a construction company. This includes recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compliance, training, payroll coordination, and labor management. The role requires strong knowledge of labor laws and experience handling a diverse workforce, including site-based employees.
Key Responsibilities:1. Recruitment & Staffing
Source, screen, and recruit candidates for both site and office-based positions (engineers, supervisors, laborers, etc.)
Coordinate with project managers and department heads to assess manpower needs
Manage onboarding and induction processes for new hires
2. Employee Relations & Welfare
Serve as a point of contact for employee concerns and grievances
Promote a positive work culture at construction sites and office locations
Coordinate employee engagement activities and welfare initiatives
3. Compliance & Legal
Ensure adherence to labor laws, including PF, ESIC, CLRA, and other applicable statutory regulations
Maintain employee records, contracts, and other legal documents
Liaise with labor contractors and ensure compliance with contractual and statutory norms
4. Performance Management
Implement appraisal systems and track employee performance
Support department heads in setting KPIs and reviewing staff performance
Address performance issues and manage disciplinary actions when required
5. Training & Development
Identify skill gaps and organize training programs for technical and non-technical staff
Collaborate with external trainers and institutes when required
6. Payroll & HR Administration
Coordinate with the accounts team for salary processing and attendance tracking
Maintain HR MIS, leave management systems, and payroll documentation
Manage contracts, appointment letters, and exit formalities
7. Site HR Management
Visit construction sites periodically to ensure HR policies are followed
Handle labor deployment and coordinate with site supervisors for workforce planning
Monitor labor attendance, safety compliance, and discipline on-site
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
3-8 years of HR experience (for Executive); 8-15 years for HR Manager
Prior experience in the construction/infrastructure/real estate sector preferred
Knowledge of labor laws, payroll, and HRMS tools
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities
Ability to travel to construction sites as needed
