Roles & Responsibilities of a Hostess:-

1. Greeting and Seating Guests

Warmly welcome guests upon arrival with a friendly and professional demeanour. Confirm reservations or manage walk-ins efficiently. Escort guests to their assigned tables and provide menus.

2. Reservation Management

Manage the reservation book or system (e.g., OpenTable). Schedule and adjust bookings to optimize seating and flow. Keep track of waiting lists during busy periods and provide accurate wait times.

3. Communication and Coordination

Coordinate with waitstaff and management to ensure smooth table turnover. Communicate guest preferences, special occasions, or VIPs to the service team. Alert the kitchen of large groups or special dietary needs.

4. Customer Service

Ensure guests are comfortable and satisfied from the moment they arrive. Address initial questions or concerns and resolve minor issues professionally. Offer information about the menu, hours, or restaurant policies if needed.

5. Ambiance and Presentation

Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of the reception area. Check that menus, decor, and promotional materials are clean and up-to-date. Assist in maintaining a welcoming atmosphere (lighting, music, scent, etc.).

6. Support During Service

Assist in taking coats or helping guests with special needs. Monitor table availability and communicate estimated wait times. Occasionally help with guest feedback or coordinate with the manager for escalated concerns.
