Job Description


Head- Tool Design & Development LEVEL : AGM Reporting to : CEO Main Responsibilities / Job Summary Responsible for all aspects of in-house tool manufacturing, maintenance, development and document activities to ensure the business objectives are met, to maximize productivity and maintain the highest levels of workmanship for all tooling activities. Lead and co-ordinate resources within the Tool room to ensure all tooling are produced efficiently, on time and in line with quality standards. Manage the team on technical best practices on Tooling Management, Tool Maintenance, Die History, Tool Breakdown and Tool Preventive Maintenance policies and procedures. Manage efficient Supply chain with all Current Tool Room vendors & identify New Vendors for for New Outsourced Tool Manufacturing, Buy Off Processes, Standard BOM Item procurement. Participate in Design Reviews, DFMEA and own the tool design process to ensure APQP actions pertaining to New Tool Manufacturing are First Time Right and On time. Ensure Tool design & Manufacturing captures Lessons Learnt, Critical Customer Touchpoints, SC/CC Parameters, Fail Safes and Poka-Yoke. Setting up Inhouse Toolroom Manufacturing setup for future growth. Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance KPIs Tool Breakdown Time Reduction- Improved MTTR & MTBF. Reduce Inhouse PPM for Tool Dominated Dimensions below 1000 PPM for developed parts in production. Improve Productivity of current developed parts to meet the Process Sheet Run@Rate. Ontime Development as per APQP Timelines agreed with Customer. Meeting the Laid down Training Plan for Team. Compliance & Process Controls on Tool Life administration in SAP. Budgeting for State-of- the-Art in House Toolroom Staff reporting: Direct Reports: Key Senior executives from Tool Design, Tool Room & New Product Development Engineers. Knowledge (Technical / Functional) Strong Technical Domain Experience in Progressive Dies Design & Development Strong Conceptual knowledge towards APQP, PPAP Strong Implementation Knowledge towards IATF 16949 and Data analytics with SAP Usage . Strong functional knowledge of Updating and implementing Tool Management System. Understanding about financial modeling Behavioural skills: Efficient Communication - Able to share clear and transparent project status Interpersonal savvy-Able to connect and create relationships with all internal & External stakeholders Networking - Able to network with stakeholders Learning Agility and Impart Training to teams Person should be able to bring functional silos & work with people. Strong Negotiation & Conflict management skills. Ability to initiate & manage change Strong result orientation Qualifications - Tool & Die Diploma/ Degree with exposure to Software like Solidedge, Catia, Simulation. Experience - 15-20 years of Sheet Metal Die Design and development for Automotive Components and assemblies. Experience in developing Sheet metal Components for Exhaust/emission systems shall be preferred. Team handling must have at least 12-15 years of experience in leading a toolroom team Work Location: Bhosari, Pune
