Main Tasks & Responsibilities
Core Tasks 1. Provide leadership to the logistics Operations Team and build visibility, goodwill for SCM functions in Business. 2. Manage bulk operations for BASF India through transport service providers, managing balance between service and costs as per business need. 3. Plan and execute bulk transportation for inbound & outbound requirements for BASF India. 4. Improve bulk transportation processes through continuous improvement activities, process innovation, NCM and problem solving and adhere to the audit observations and strengthen the processes by taking improvement actions. 5. Sustain Customer Centricity culture in the function: - Develop/ cooperate / participate \xe2\x80\x93 initiatives to increase efficiency in TM & DN process from planning to costing.
Core Responsibilities 1. Provide on-the-job mentoring and coaching to team members in matters related to logistics operations process efficiency and foster a customer focused culture, under guidance from Head Supply Chain Operations (India) and the BUs. 2. Provide logistics operations management-related expertise and information to business and regional counterparts community for continuous process improvement, system harmonization and solution coordinator for process problem solving 3. Interact with the business management, BU SCM and sales to gain knowledge of business and provide logistics operations solution to business as per requirement. 4. Ensure logistics operations team effectiveness by fostering cross-BU knowledge sharing and creating a reliable back-up system 5. Review resource utilization and planning with Head of Supply Chain Operations and the BU Supply Chain Managers. 6. Manage employee development process in setting target agreements, structured performance reviews and career development plans. 7. Involve in the recruitment and talent management of the team members, to retain and develop staff with potential. 8. Develop individual training plan for the team based on current and future development requirement 9. Offer guidance to team members in capturing BU/ Customer expectation / reduction of repeated NCMs, by analyzing the root causes, propose corrective measures and ensure on-time closure of the end-to-end process in coordination with BUs and functions for all logistics operations complaints. 10. Ensure zero medium and major observations during internal and external audits of Transportation Management & Distribution Network Management processes. 11. Ensure timely and effective communication with all stakeholders (Business Units, 3rd party LSP, Logistics procurement, Customer Service, Planners etc)
Operational Vendor Management 1. Effective management of distribution network in the assigned areas in India always. The network comprises of 3rd party managed warehouses & transporters. Accountable for high standards of performance in all aspects of assigned 3rd party warehouses & transporters. 2. Regular and timely monitoring of Warehousing & Transportation LSP via defined KPIs, analysis of data from SAP system and / or developing / implementing new KPIs relevant to the business. Conduct regular service provider performance reviews. 3. Work with LSP to ensure continuous improvement measures are identified and identified leading to higher efficient and effective operations. 4. Recommendation of operation tactics opportunities & supplier development. 5. Facilitate in addressing regulatory requirements to ensure business continuity across all warehouse locations.
Minimum Education and Qualification Required for the Position
Detail oriented and good analytical skills. Full time MBA (Tier 1, 2), with LSS Green Belt certification will be preferred. 8-10 years of experience in the field of supply chain operations. B. E Qualification & APICS certification would.
Functional & Technical Competencies: Knowledge of Transportation & Warehousing processes, knowledge of SAP processes & digitalization of logistics operations, knowledge of logistics service provider market / real estate market & strong working knowledge of transportation/ warehousing commercials. Good capability in written and verbal English and Hindi; has intercultural competence, communication, and language skills; proactive and solution orientated; has issue handling skills; skilful in excel, word and power point; Experience in SAP preferred.
Skills: Numeracy skills and the ability to interpret data, written and oral communication skills, problem solving and analytical skills - finding a range of solutions, understanding their effects and making recommendations, confidence in dealing with a range of people including procurement, business units heads, service providers etc., the ability to communicate complex ideas and issues clearly and accurately, often to a non-technical audience, project management skills, the ability to work as part of a team, computer literacy, an interest in supply chain and logistics.
