Job Title: Lead Engineer – Service Operations Location: Pune/Bangalore Corporate Title: Vice President Application and Integration Platforms – Lead Engineer – Service Operations The Chief Technology Office (CTO) provides Technology infrastructure, Shared Services, Platforms and capability across the entire bank. Within CTO, the Application and Integration Platform (AIP) group is responsible for delivering a number of strategic, mission critical platforms and products that support our bank-wide application ecosystem incorporating our PaaS, Messaging, Web Hosting and Grid computing capabilities. AIP is responsible for the Product Management of these platforms including Engineering, Operating and Architecting the roadmaps of the underlying platforms and products ensuring stable, resilient and performant platforms that align with the bank’s overall IT strategy and vision. We are looking for a highly experienced individual with extensive experience in supporting larger platforms and applications with a very strong engineering mindset to lead the operations functions and take accountability for its people, processes and products. Role Description: Responsible for the Operational Management & Service Delivery of Deutsche Bank’s Platform as a Service (PaaS) Platforms. Managing a number of teams and services supporting different technologies and Platforms (PaaS) offerings, such as RedHat Openshift/Kubernetes container implementation on internal and external cloud, highly dense web hosting (Apache/NginX) and Messaging Platforms based on technologies such as MQ and Solace. Take direct responsibility of the operations of the web hosting platforms in terms of service management. These platforms are Deutsche Bank strategic hosting environments. Managing a team of 10+ internal together with a number of significant sized vendor contacts (in excess of 120 resources). The Operations team provides support for around 20 Platforms and applications with both vendor and internal resources globally distributed. Key responsibilities
  • Accountable for the delivery of Platform Services (PaaS) globally to defined Service levels.
  • Drive Continual Service Improvements across the Ops teams.
  • Manage Global Support teams to deliver services to defined SLAs/OLAs
  • Engineering Liaison and Roadmap contribution
  • Driving change towards a DEVOPS/SRE Model
  • Stakeholder Management across both internal IT Organisation / Business and Vendors.
  • Consolidation / Cost management
  • Budget Management. Currently managing a budget in excess of €4M.
  • Vendor Management – both technical and contractual., external engagements, contract negotiations, Vendor performance reviews and governance.
  • People Management / Staff Reviews / Performance Management / Mentoring / Coaching
  • CSF/KPI Management
  • Competent with ITIL functions such as Incident, Problem and Change
Skills and Experience: This role requires:
  • A confident self-starter with excellent communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively at multiple levels both within the team, wider Application Platform group but most importantly to internal clients and stakeholders.

Operational Accountability
  • Ensuring platforms remain resilient and performant in line with agreed SLAs and OLAs
  • Support operational teams and act as a point of escalation for Incident, Problem and Change Management activities
  • Ensuring all platforms remain compliant with standards and policies
  • Identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements via automation and repeatable patterns
  • Instil a SRE culture and mindset
Risk Management
  • Own the Risk posture of the group including owning and remediating all Audit Findings and Action Plans assigned to underlying platforms
  • Interlock with relevant Risk forums groups to ensure that the Risk posture aligns with the bank’s Risk Appetite
  • Pro-actively seek out opportunities to mitigate Risk as part of Product evolution and lifecycle
