About The Role
  • The Group\xe2\x80\x99s Risk Management Framework requires a 2nd Line of Defence to act as Stewards for Legal Risks, one of the 14 primary risk types categorized by the Group. Many of the Risk Steward responsibilities are designed, coordinated, advised on and discharged by the Legal Risk Management & Assurance team (LRMA) within Group Legal. LRMA provides guidance and support to ensure that the legal, conduct and reputational risks faced by the area of coverage are identified, reported and mitigated, in line with the Risk Management Framework.
What you\xe2\x80\x99ll do:
  • LRMA India has been established to best ehance and support the execution of existing and new risk management processes on behalf of stakeholders in an effective, efficient and streamlined manner. LRMA India supports across both Legal Risk Management activities and Assurance activities and is an integral part of the global LRMA team.
The role holder will:
  • Lead the LRMA India team and be responsible for ensuring the team is structured, resourced and operating effectively to support Global LRMA and effective management of legal risk across the Group.
  • Provide support and guidance with regard to the identification and management of legal and associated reputational/conduct risks through a deep understanding of the Group\xe2\x80\x99s Risk Management Framework and Legal Risk MI, policies and procedures.
  • Oversee assurance and risk management activity conducted by the LRMA India team.
  • Support the Global Head of LRMA in identifying implementation efficiencies in respect of all legal risk related activities of the LRMA India team in particular.
  • Critically assess current practices/ways of working to identify opportunities to enhance, automate and simplify the delivery of MI and reporting; and support the delivery of those changes.
  • Maintain and develop positive and professional working relationships with key stakeholders in the Legal Function.
  • Present management information and reporting to support Legal Risk management activities, ensuring that the information is presented in formats that are user friendly and tailored to the audience.
  • Analyse risk management data to underteake read across comparison across regions/geographies, identify themes, trends and/or issues which require attention and escalation
  • Support the legal function in all Operational risk reviews and/or internal audit related matters.
This position can be hybrid (located in Bangalore).RequirementsWhat you will need to succeed in the role:Requirements/Qualifications
  • Qualified lawyer with significant post qualification experience across a wide range of disciplines.
  • Demonstrable experience in major financial / legal / compliance / audit / risk management practice/operations.
  • Familiarity with (non-financial) risk management concepts, frameworks and processes.
  • Demonstrable experience in data management.
  • Ability to influence and deliver change.
  • Strong leadership skills, a self-starter, independent with good organisational skills
  • Able to see the \xe2\x80\x9cbigger picture\xe2\x80\x9d and handle a diverse range of issues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including to a senior/executive audience
  • Confidence in engaging with colleagues, building effective working relationships (especially remotely), speaking up and providing challenge and feedback.
