Job Description

A Hardware Networking Engineer installs, configures, and maintains network hardware and software, troubleshoots and resolves network and hardware issues, and ensures network security and performance. The role involves managing routers, switches, and firewalls, monitoring network traffic, performing upgrades, and providing technical support to users. Key responsibilities also include documenting network configurations and collaborating with other IT teams.
Key responsibilities

• Installation and configuration: Install, configure, and maintain network hardware (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls) and software.
• Troubleshooting and maintenance: Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues to prevent downtime.
• Performance and security: Monitor network performance, implement security measures, and perform necessary upgrades and system improvements.
• Support: Provide technical support to end-users and collaborate with other IT teams on network design and implementation.
• Documentation: Document network configurations, maintenance procedures, and security protocols.
• Disaster recovery: Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery plans for data and hardware.

Required skills and knowledge

• Networking fundamentals: Strong understanding of networking concepts like the OSI model, TCP/IP, subnetting, and VLANs.
• Protocols: Knowledge of networking protocols such as DNS, DHCP, BGP, and OSPF.
• Hardware and software: Proficiency with computer hardware and experience with operating systems like Windows, Linux, or macOS.
• Security: Experience with network security principles, firewalls, and security protocols.
• Tools: Familiarity with network analysis tools and network management products.
