JOB PURPOSE

As part of the Global Green Technology team and reporting to Global Green Technology Director, Heating and Decarbonization Manager is responsible for supporting the Unilever\xe2\x80\x99s scope 1 and 2 decarbonization program. The role is leading the development of decarbonization roadmaps for Unilever factories, design and maintain global standards of heating systems, support Business Groups/ Units on standard compliance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

You\xe2\x80\x99re a born leader: You provide strategic technical leadership for the engineering design of thermal energy (heating) technology for the Green Tech team, bringing best in class design, out of the box thinking, agile technology and cost-effective solutions, collaborating locally and globally to achieve these objectives.

You have strong passion for Engineering Excellence to drive technical performance. You exhibit excellent leadership skills as a collaborator and networker. Some of the initiatives that take place under your leadership are:

  • Global lead for heating, decarbonization and compressed air solutions.
  • Fit for purpose/ right design for heating, decarbonization, compressed air solutions.
  • Professional leadership of very high engineering standard across organization.
  • Support BGs to drive decarbonization by application of clean/renewable energy technologies such as Electrification (heat pump, electric boiler), biogenic (biomass, biofuel, Biomethane, biogas), Hydrogen, Solar thermal systems, geothermal to meet decarbonization target along with energy and cost reduction.
  • Drive CAPEX and OPEX reduction through correct specification, sizing, sourcing, Life Cycle cost (LCC) comparison.
  • Drive and lead Global boiler safety technology platform.
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating the technical safety standards and guidelines for boilers.
  • Management of change process (e-MOC) for boilers
  • Ensure the boilers are compliant to Unilever safety standards and HAZOP study is carried out.
  • Ensure safe and good engineering practices are followed in green and brownfield projects through design reviews.
  • Provide support on incident investigations.
  • Trouble shooting in steam, thermal oil, hot water, hot air, compressed air systems.
  • Support Digitalizing heating systems.
  • Develop and maintain minimum Design Standards for heating technology equipment.
You\xe2\x80\x99re a dot connector: You are the technology bridge between the Business Operations team and the BGs and BUs, working with BGs to understand requirements and working with the BUs to support implementation and compliance. You represent technical excellence and understanding of heating technologies such as boilers, solar thermal, heat pumps, geothermal. You perform successfully in a multi-functional/ discipline high performance team environment.

You\xe2\x80\x99re a change maker: You flawlessly execute the project management leading all engineering aspects of the working program working with different areas in an integrated, high performance work team, bringing an outside-in and out of the box thinking beyond conventional technology to build a solution that is state-of-the-art, agile, cost competitive, highly productive and highly digitized. You are responsible for design of all types of heating technology solutions (steam, hot water, thermal oil heaters) in conventional as well as clean energy solutions and you will work closely in partnership with the remaining Engineering team to drive flawless execution of projects in this area. You will apply your experience and knowledge to guide capacity and efficiency improvements in existing assets and will leverage latest technologies to unlock insights to drive improved performance.

You have a wealth of technical expertise gained through education degree and deep experience of heating solution projects deployment in factories, strong network design skills. You keep yourself abreast about latest trends and best practices for heating solutions, energy efficiency solutions developments and market trends. In addition, you have excellent change management skills and the ability to know the audience and communicate technical concepts to a broad range of stakeholders some of whom may not have a deep technical background. This requires elevating communication from the technical complexities (bits and bytes) and translation into business relevant concepts.

ALL ABOUT YOU

Essential
  • B.S. or B.E. degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent education with demonstrated working experience.
  • Experience in Design and Engineering with FMCG organizations strongly preferred.
  • Leading edge expert in Decarbonization technologies and strategies, Energy efficiency program, Boiler Safety program, Utility Digitalization, Supplier technical partnership, Design Standardization of utility systems, Capability building.
  • Expertise in energy efficiency improvement through loss reduction, heat recovery and recycle in Utilities as well as in manufacturing processes.
  • Basic knowledge in the areas of HVAC, Refrigeration, Water and Wastewater management
  • Experience in various international boiler design standards, process and utilities, modelling software, project management systems and tools.
  • Work/ collaborate with world class Consultants and Engineering service in different parts of the world.
  • Solid experience in a people or project management role.
  • Engineering Design Process Management.
  • Travel 20 \xe2\x80\x93 50% of time.
  • Skills: Communication, Persuasion, Project Management, Analytical/ Systems Thinking, Creativity, Power BI, MS office, ACAD

  • Strategic supplier partnership development to ensure latest technology implementation.
  • Support Competitive equipment sourcing (new suppliers, local sourcing), Global contracts.
