Job Description

The GM - Head of PMO will lead the establishment, governance, and continuous improvement of the organization's Project Management Office. This role ensures that all strategic and operational projects are aligned with business objectives, executed efficiently, and deliver measurable outcomes. The incumbent will oversee project portfolio management, standardize delivery practices, and provide executive-level insights to drive business performance.
Key Responsibilities
PMO Governance & Standardization

  • Develop and implement PMO governance frameworks, standards, and tools across the organization.
  • Establish project management methodologies, templates, and reporting mechanisms to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Define and enforce project approval, review, and closure processes.
  • Ensure alignment of all projects and programs with the organization's strategic and financial goals.
Portfolio & Program Oversight
  • Lead the overall project portfolio planning, prioritization, and execution tracking.
  • Monitor project progress, key milestones, risks, and interdependencies across business functions.
  • Conduct periodic portfolio reviews and ensure timely escalation and resolution of critical issues.
  • Drive benefits realization and ensure project outcomes contribute to organizational objectives.
Planning, Monitoring & Reporting
  • Support project teams in detailed planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
  • Implement robust monitoring systems for tracking timelines, costs, and quality.
  • Deliver accurate, timely dashboards and MIS reports for management and board reviews.

  • Introduce data-driven insights and analytics for proactive decision-making.
Capability Building & Leadership
  • Build and mentor a high-performing team of project managers and coordinators.
  • Conduct training and workshops on project management best practices, governance, and tools.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on project execution and change management.
Stakeholder & Cross-functional Engagement
  • Collaborate with business, finance, operations, and technology teams to align project execution with organizational needs.
  • Partner with senior management to assess project feasibility, resource allocation, and ROI.
  • Communicate project portfolio status, risks, and opportunities to executive leadership.
Key Skills & Competencies
  • Deep knowledge of project, program, and portfolio management frameworks (PMI, PRINCE2, Agile, etc.).
  • Proven experience in setting up and scaling PMO functions at enterprise level.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
  • High proficiency in project management and reporting tools (MS Project, Primavera, Jira, Power BI, etc.).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial governance abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Requirements
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Master's degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, PgMP, PRINCE2, MSP, or Agile preferred.
  • 20-25+ years of total experience with at least 8-10 years in senior project/PMO leadership roles.
