We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Regional Head of Operational and Resilience Risk DBS, Global Functions and Third Party Risk

Global Operational and Resilience Risk (ORR) is a sub function of Group Risk. Its purpose is to make sure HSBC understands and is in control of its non-financial risk position.

The Opportunity:

This is a high profile and influencial role in our function, which will be responsible for continuing the development and transformation of the Operational Risk and Resilience operating model to ensure the 1LOD functions responsible for Contingency Risk, Buildings Unavailability, Physical Security and Workplace Safety operates effectively and efficiently and can deliver HSBC's strategic goals.

What you'll do:

  • Leading on defining the risk and control library, including minimum control standards, with input from Risk Owners, Business Service and Control Owners, specifying key risks and key controls.
  • Leading on defining the risk and control library, including minimum control standards, with input from Risk Owners, Business Service and Control Owners, specifying key risks and key controls.
  • Reporting on risk and control profile, including impacts of external environment changes, emerging risks and changes to the business strategy. Advocate a positive risk culture within the function and for the risk types across HSBC.
  • Engaging with risk owners, control owners and risk stewards to ensure Contingency Risk, Buildings Unavailability, Physical Security and Workplace Safety risks are managed in accordance to policy.
  • Leading the deployment of deep subject matter expertise around Contingency Risk, Buildings Unavailability, Physical Security and Workplace Safety Risk.
Leadership & Teamwork
  • Partners with 1LOD functions responsible for Contingency Risk, Buildings Unavailability, Physical Security and Workplace Safety to ensure a strong risk management culture and behaviours is effective and embedded.
  • Develops an effective team through communication, performance management, development plans and reward/recognition practices.
  • Leads and role model aligning with the Bank's strategy, behaviours and values; Promotes an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC Brand.
  • Close working relationships with senior stakeholders across the C-suite population of the 1LOD functions responsible for Contingency Risk, Buildings Unavailability, Physical Security and Workplace Safety.
  • Latitude to make decisions outside of established procedures but within a policy framework. Broad guidelines are available. Role implements strategy set by others.
Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:
  • Expert level of business management knowledge and experience of working in a senior role.
  • Expert level of risk management knowledge and relevant experience in at least one of the underlying resilience risk disciplines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, building strong relationships and influencing key senior internal and external stakeholders - by articulating compelling arguments, positions, strategy and vision.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the external environment (risk, regulatory, geopolitical, competitor etc.)
  • A change agent who challenges the status quo as a robust diplomat; cogently, constructively and positively, leading relevant strategies that enable safe growth of HSBC.
  • Broad and comprehensive understanding of concepts and principles within one discipline
  • Ability to challenge practices and capabilities while maintaining a strong working relationship with the teams involved
  • Effective management of time to work across multiple disciplines, time zones, etc
  • Sensitivity to Cultural diversity and ability to dynamically adapt interpersonal style to build effective relationships
