Summary

General Ledger Specialist prepares journal entries, reconciles financial statements, and accounts, and ensures data accuracy. They will report to the GL Team Lead. Since this position involves analyzing and ensuring accuracy of data, those who are well-suited to a career as a GL Specialist are detail-oriented, organized, and accurate.

Shift time is 5:00 PM \xe2\x80\x93 2:00 AM IST.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Analyzing financial information: Analysing and interpreting financial information, this role provides assurance that information complies with professional and regulatory standards. They ensure data supports budgeting and forecasting requirements, and they provide solutions to control issues.
  • Support monthly and annual close process: At the end of the month or year, this role records information such as accrual, deferral, reclass, and interdepartmental entries into the company\xe2\x80\x99s accounting ledger. They perform account analysis to make sure that entries and balances are correct.
  • Reconcile Accounts: On a regular basis, GL Specialist reconciles accounts with the general ledger. They ensure that all entries are accurate, and transactions are reported in accordance with accounting standards and government regulations. When they find errors, they make changes, as necessary.
  • Prepare and post journal entries: With appropriate supporting documentation, general ledger specialist prepares journal entries relating to amortization, depreciation, accruals, and a variety of other information. They ensure that entries align with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
Required skills
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP.
  • 3+ years of experience in General Ledger and Auditing with knowledge of technical accounting functions and experience in financial bookkeeping.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Balance Sheet GL reconciliation.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with all levels of employees and good interpersonal skills to build good relationship with stakeholders.
  • Should have accounting ERP knowledge.
  • Advanced MS word and Excel knowledge.
