Key Responsibilities

• Metal Cutting:Operate manual or automated gas cutting equipment to cut various metals (like structural steel, plates, or pipes) to specific shapes and dimensions.
• Material Preparation:Examine metal materials to be cut, mark them according to plans or specifications, and sometimes preheat them for cutting or welding.
• Equipment Operation:Connect gas hoses and fittings, mount templates, and set cutting parameters on automated machines to ensure precision.
• Safety & Maintenance:Follow all safety regulations, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain and inspect the gas cutting equipment to ensure proper functionality.
• Quality Control:Ensure the quality and precision of cuts and check the cut pieces for defects to ensure they meet project specifications.
• Collaboration:Work with fabrication and construction teams to achieve project goals, ensuring parts are prepared for further assembly, welding, or fitting.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Experience:Hands-on experience as a gas cutter in an industrial, construction, or fabrication environment.
• Technical Knowledge:Familiarity with oxy-acetylene or oxy-fuel cutting processes, including handling gas cutting torches.
• Safety Awareness:A strong understanding of safety protocols and ability to work in potentially hazardous, hot, or noisy environments.
• Physical Attributes:Good hand-eye coordination and eyesight are crucial for accurate cutting.
• Attention to Detail:The ability to follow instructions, mark materials precisely, and ensure cuts conform to specifications.
