Job Description


PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES This position is accountable for the following end results: Deliver all objectives safely and achieve 100% compliance with safety requirements Produce deliverables of high quality and accuracy meeting project requirements and within budgeted timeline Understand the process cycles and contribute towards process optimization Generate engineering hour estimates and define both Mechanical and Structural discipline execution strategies Own the technologies for all Furnace Designs employed in AP projects and the strengths and weaknesses of different designs Lead selection of third-party technologies when required for the most appropriate design to meet customer or project requirements Lead the development and deployment of AP furnace design in close collaboration with in-house Process Engineering, Product Development and R&D teams Specify & Define Furnace duties, oversee the development and review the Engineering Deliverables for all of Green Hydrogen Furnace components Perform detailed equipment design calculations, and design drawings Lead the development of equipment procurement specifications and fabrication specifications Support P&ID development, operability reviews, hazard reviews, and model reviews Interface with third-party equipment suppliers and furnace fabricators Work with product managers, technology department, and procurement department to support bid evaluations and product competitiveness initiatives Support plant start-up, commissioning and plant performance testing Domestic and international travel to other Air Products Office locations and plant sites is expected about 15% of the time. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS B.S. degree or higher in Mechanical or Structural Engineering A minimum of 12 years of work experience for an industrial gas company, technology company, or EPC firm Have a solid understanding of refinery engineering codes and standards (ASME Section I, Section VIII, B31.1, B31.3 API 560, 530 and AISC) Prior experience in modeling software preferred (STAADPro and Caesar II) Demonstrated prior experience in refinery fired heater engineering in large capital projects and execution of product development projects Familiarity with different H2 generation technologies Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Self-motivated and a team player
