:

Kai India Mental Health Forum (KIMHF) seeks to build an ecosystem that fosters mental health and collective care through professional training and community strengthening programmes. Its intention is to co-create and build capacity for a provider network that delivers innovative approaches and solutions to mental health care management for people across their lifespans in urban settings.

KIMHF seeks to move towards a holistic approach that aligns with theories, therapeutic approaches, and community engagement models that are non-pathologizing, respectful and centre people as having agency in their own lives.

Kai India Mental Health Forum (KIMHF) is being built with input from leading doctors, scientists, academics, social entrepreneurs and lived experience experts. The KIMHF is steered by its founding patrons Ashish and Vasvi Bharat Ram, and mentors Dr Prabha Chandra, Dr Shekhar Saxena, Dr Alok Sarin, Dr Meenakshi Gopinath, and Dr Shelja Sen.

The Position :

The Founding Director of the organization will have the opportunity to build KIMHF into a world class Indian mental health institute that builds capacity and transforms narratives through professional training and community strengthening programmes.

The Founding Director will :

- Build a reputed institution delivering training for mental health professionals and capacity building within the healthcare ecosystem & communities at large.

- Create a mental health alliance of individuals and organizations who are committed to a common vision and ethos, a certain quality of care, and community-based support.

- Conceptualize a world-class institute in India that attracts global and local alliances and funders across sectors.

- Build thought leadership and capacity creation interventions across stakeholders, setting standards for best practice among healthcare professionals.

- Catalyse change in shaping the narrative and public advocacy for the ecosystem.

- Attract and retain a high quality, high capability team that is values and mission aligned, and that sets up the organisation for long term sustainability & lasting impact.

Experience :

- The leader should be a person who has a passion for institution building, an individual who has the drive, energy and management capacity to create and propel KIMHF on its zero to ten journey.

- The ideal individual is likely to have at least 20 years of overall work experience, with a leadership and institution building track record in a corporate, academic, or social impact context.

Competencies :

Leadership : The individual must have an outstanding reputation in corporate, academic and/or social impact contexts; and be a recognized leader with a demonstrable track record of building from concept; someone with the energy and motivation to give shape and form to KIMHF\'s aspirations.

Management : The desired candidate must be a self-starter, and highly entrepreneurial; someone who takes charge of creating and orchestrating the business plan, managing multi- stakeholder alliances, and all aspects of organisation building, and management required to bring the KIMHF to life.

Communication : S/he must be an exceptional evangelist and advocate of the work of KIMHF, with the ability to pitch and present its work to a range of stakeholders within and outside the mental health ecosystem. Experience in building institutional reputation, and familiarity with the digital world are desirable.

Relationship Builder : The successful aspirant should be able to manage, engage and influence a diverse set of stakeholders - the Board, Founders, academic and research institutions, practitioners, clinicians, colleagues, partners, the media, donors, and government.

Personal characteristics : The individual must be a natural collaborator and convener, an engaging leader who operates as the first-among-equals, is intellectually independent, a creative and capable administrator, and an inspiring team builder.

Location : The incumbent will be based in Delhi.
