A forklift operator's job is to safely and efficiently operate a forklift to move, load, unload, and stack materials and goods in warehouses, construction sites, and other industrial environments. Key duties include performing pre-operation checks on equipment, maintaining inventory records, ensuring loads are secure and balanced, following strict safety protocols, and keeping the work area organized.
Key Responsibilities
Operate Forklift:
Safely operate various types of forklifts to transport materials, merchandise, and products within the facility.
Load & Unload:
Handle the loading and unloading of materials from trucks, rail cars, and other vehicles.
Material Handling:
Move palletized, boxed, and other packaged materials to designated storage areas, staging areas, and production lines.
Stacking & Storage:
Accurately stack and store materials according to inventory control instructions and warehouse layouts.
Inventory Management:
Keep accurate records of received, stored, and shipped goods, using RF scanning equipment and other tools as needed.
Equipment Maintenance:
Perform daily safety and pre-operation checks on forklifts and report any defects or malfunctions.
Safety & Compliance:
Adhere to all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and safety procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
Work Area Organization:
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Quality Assurance:
Inspect materials for damage or shortages and report any quality issues.
