Job Description

A Food and Beverage (F&B) Captain is responsible for supervising dining room staff, ensuring high service standards, and creating an excellent guest experience. Key duties include training and managing servers, coordinating with the kitchen, handling guest complaints, taking orders, and overseeing dining room operations like table settings and cleanliness.

Core responsibilities

Staff supervision and training:

Train and supervise service staff to maintain high standards of service, discipline, and hygiene. Assign duties equitably and assist in scheduling.

Guest relations:

Greet guests, take orders, and ensure their satisfaction with food and beverages. Handle complaints and special requests, and present final bills.

Operations management:

Oversee the daily operations of the dining area, ensuring it is clean, organized, and properly set up according to standards.

Coordination:

Act as a liaison between the front-of-house staff and the kitchen, communicating orders, special requirements, and wait times.

Inventory and supplies:

Monitor inventory levels for items like cutlery, glassware, and other service equipment, and assist in ordering supplies as needed.

Sales and upselling:

Promote food and beverage sales and ensure the restaurant achieves its sales goals.
