Job Description

A mechanical fitter assembles, installs, maintains, and repairs mechanical systems and equipment by reading technical drawings, using hand and power tools to cut and shape metal, and ensuring all components are aligned and functioning correctly. Key responsibilities include fabricatiing parts from raw materials, performing routine inspections and maintenance, troubleshooting and fixing malfunctioning machinery, and adhering strictly to health and safety protocols in manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities
Assembly and Installation:
Constructing and fitting together mechanical components, systems, and machinery according to blueprints and technical specifications.
Maintenance and Repair:
Performing scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work on various mechanical systems, including welding, grinding, and replacing parts.
Fabrication:
Cutting, shaping, and drilling metal materials to precise measurements to create custom parts or components for assembly.
Inspection and Quality Control:
Conducting thorough inspections of machinery, components, and fabricated parts to ensure they meet safety standards, proper alignment, and quality requirements.
Documentation:
Recording work activities, inspection findings, and maintenance reports for progress tracking and record-keeping purposes.
Safety Adherence:
Following all company and government regulations and safety procedures when operating heavy machinery and handling tools and equipment.
Collaboration:
Working with other technicians, engineers, and production teams to coordinate projects and resolve technical issues efficiently.
Essential Skills and Knowledge
Technical Drawing Interpretation:
Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
Tool Proficiency:
Skill in using a variety of hand and power tools, such as saws, grinding tools, and welding equipment.
