Key Responsibilities:
Assembly & Installation:
Fitters assemble and install various types of machinery, industrial equipment, structural components, and piping systems.
Maintenance & Repair:
They conduct routine maintenance, perform troubleshooting, and carry out repairs on machinery to prevent failures and ensure optimal performance.
Tool & Equipment Operation:
Fitters use a variety of hand and power tools, such as hammers, hacksaws, and welding equipment, as well as potentially operating lifting equipment like cranes.
Technical Reading:
A crucial skill is the ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications to understand how to assemble and install components correctly.
Fabrication & Fitting:
They perform fitting and cutting operations on metal parts, fabricate templates, and check that finished components meet the required specifications.
Safety & Compliance:
Fitters must strictly adhere to safety protocols, regulations, and industry standards throughout their work.
