Department Description
The UK and /or Ireland Finance team based in India supports the business. The team is responsible for the financial and management accounting for Fidelity’s UK and Irish operational entities as well as providing management information, monitoring financial controls and ensuring compliance with the financial regulations of the local regulators. The team consists of 3 pillars focusing on:
Expense & Consolidation - principally responsible for expense accounting, allocations and fixed assets for non-regulated entities and the consolidation and group reporting. Regulated Entities - responsible for accounting and regulatory reporting for Group which are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (‘FCA’). Insurance and Ireland - responsible for accounting and regulatory reporting for a UK Life Insurance company (regulated by the Prudential Regulation Authority (‘PRA’)) and all Irish entities (some of which are regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland).
Purpose of your role
This role is an excellent opportunity to gain a broad understanding of financial controllership, UK/ Irish business and its role in FIL’s Financial Services business. The role will be primarily around managing financial accounting and monthly reporting for Ireland & Life Insurance entities. The successful applicant will be exposed to GAAP based accounting and would be required to demonstrate flexibility and enthusiasm towards ad hoc queries and analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
The role will involve management and oversight of the Life Financial Accounting function, providing the necessary review and challenge to ensure that the financial information and reporting is complete and accurate. In particular:

  • Responsible for overall month end close process. This includes co-ordinating and working closely with the onshore Controllership teams.
  • Build understanding of Life business for both UK and Ireland and its related legal entity structure.
  • Responsible for Balance sheet account reconciliations for associated accounts on monthly basis to ensure all balances items are settled within defined time.
  • Present and lead legal entity financial results on monthly calls with onshore stakeholders.
  • Ensure the year-end audit process including preparation of Financial Statements happens smoothly and in a timely manner
  • Deal with Ad-Hoc queries from the wider finance community
  • Communicating with senior stakeholders (including within Tax, Management Accounting and Business Finance teams) in performing analytical reviews to understand expense/ revenue trends.
  • Maintain a high level of risk awareness and develop a sound control environment to enable risk mitigation.
  • Acknowledges and leverages individual strengths and addresses issues in an opportune and direct manner
  • Responsible for maintaining a constructive and professional relationship with similar onshore grade levels as well as other key onshore and offshore stakeholders

Experience and Qualifications Required
Technical
  • Qualified CA or an equivalent degree with up to 4 to 6 years of relevant work experience in Finance with exposure to accounting, data analytics and reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills including knowledge of accounting principles;
  • Shows attention to detail and an appetite to dive into issues in depth as needed;
  • Basic knowledge of the Microsoft Office software packages; Proficient with Microsoft Excel;
  • Knowledge of Essbase and HFM would be an advantage.
  • Collaborative approach to develop, share, accept and implementation of ideas
  • Identify opportunities & implement solutions to improve process
  • Prior knowledge of Life accounting and reporting would be an advantage.
